Low and slow smoking on weber gas grill

Just wondering, when (and if) you guys smoke on a weber gas grill, do you use aluminum foil to plug the slit at the back behind the top and the cookbox? im talking about 225-250 grate temp so it is not going to get overheated to damage the lid, even if dome temperature doubles due to the plug...

Opening up orifice size on NG Genesis II

finally done cleaning and hooked up the grill. I am really not sure how so many people cannot get the temperature up but I got it up to 600F in around 10-15 minutes. Seasoned the steel plate and grate Doing first smoke today (maple smoked wings) and see how it turns out I hope there is some...

Opening up orifice size on NG Genesis II

Thanks for your advice and I am well aware of the short coming of the N-S burner config in rotisserie. I plan on using it like a donair/schwarma kind of food, where you actually use high heat to quickly sear the outside and shave it off for serving. I just hope that the turning speed of the...

Opening up orifice size on NG Genesis II

Got the grill home today! The regulator is marked 4.5 on it, so I think it means 4.5 in water column pressure. Now I need to replace the old 3/8 QD on the gas pipe with the 1/2 QD that this hose needs..... Not sure why they chose to use 1/2" hose as 3/8" should support at lest 50K BTU, and this...

Opening up orifice size on NG Genesis II

I just watched a couple grill cleaning videos and noticed that the cookbox is mostly heated at the end of the flavorizer bar, and probably the same on the other end Since I am going to crank up the heat, I am thinking to get a sheet of S/S and slide in between the cookbox and the flavorizer...

Opening up orifice size on NG Genesis II

Thanks. I took a more detailed comparison between the two. From the look of the handle bar, that manual seems to be for the Genesis II 1.0, which has the old lid handle bar, which is the correct version for the one I am getting. The picture in the manual I found had the new version rounded...

Opening up orifice size on NG Genesis II

understood as in why...... for most people the grill is just an appliance... but for us, the grill is a toy and a hobby, much like how people like modding cars From my understanding is that because 4 or 6 burner has larger difference in distance between gas travelling from the closest burner...

Opening up orifice size on NG Genesis II

Thank you for your reply. Is it something like this in the video? I may go to a high end appliance store and just take a look at the internal and see how they are constructed. It is great that there are grills out there that are built to last with the high performance like wolf, crown, coyote...

Opening up orifice size on NG Genesis II

Oh and when I ask for picture, by no means I am doubting the truthfulness of the information. As an engineer, I can see a lot more information on what led to the failure when I have a picture on hand so I can figure out what I can do to prevent it from happening. I apologize if I sounded the...

Opening up orifice size on NG Genesis II

Thank you very much for your reply. I have definitely read through the information that have been posted so far and have taken in every single bit of it. I understand the risk and I am trying to collect as much information as I can to identify all the area that may fail and then decide if I have...

Opening up orifice size on NG Genesis II

Thanks for the link. It is good that the CS took care of it. I hope the CS is still the same these days The new GS4 burner in the Genesis II seems like a completely different design from the original crimped tube. Lets hope nothing similar would happen on the new burner and there are formula...

Opening up orifice size on NG Genesis II

oh **** that looks like the weld at the end of the tube rusted apart and like u said, turned into a blow torch to teh side of the cookbox. Definitely open up the internal to clean and inspect regularly is key to the grill
