    sous vide thread

Hi, I've not had the chance to look at the relay, but from experience I wouldn't bother with the pump. I started off with one but after it broke (cheap ebay buy) I haven't noticed any difference without. The linkmeter works perfectly as a sous-vide controller. I probably use it for this as...

    INTRODUCING: the "Roto Damper"

Hi, I've had a couple of versions of the link meter and it works great. Ralph, being in the uk means I understand the issues cased by wet, windy and snowy weather. I've been watching progress for a while and it's time to move from my home-made 'traditional' blower to something more...

    sous vide thread

I used the values posted by Evan earlier in the thread: P=10, I=0.007, D=20 It seemed to work fine with my setup... I ran for 24hrs over the weekend and the water temp very stable.

    sous vide thread

For mine I used a 20L Burco Boiler. I've added a piece of copper pipe to 'hold' the probe without it sitting in the water and also have a small aquarim pump which circulates when heating. It works great! I'll post photos when I get chance

    sous vide thread

Hi, Seasons greetings to everyone... with the UK holiday season giving me a little more time to get my sous video setup working I have successfully boiled and egg! It was as hoped... soft with a 'custardy' yolk. I used a 25a SSD relay which seems to cope without generating too much heat...

    Hosed something up...

Just to add to this thread... I updated both the Router & Heatermeter code last week (on account of me getting my Sous Vide setup working). I screwed up the Linksys update and had to result in TFTP'ing to get back to working system. After the re-flash, mine exhibited the same web errors when...

    sous vide thread

Hi, A quick post to resurrect the thread. Evan, have you had any further experience with the Sous Vide adaptations? I'm about to venture into Sous Vide... I have the water bath and am starting to contemplate rigging up a SSR to maintain the temperature. I've read through the thread and note...

    Fan/Cooker thread

Just to add to the discussion... I had similar thoughts about how whether to include a damper. I have a Big Green Egg and like Bryan started off with a Cardboard version... but I also wanted to use my blower as a way of speeding up higher temperature start-ups. After a few tries I found the...

RaspberryPi + LinkMeter blue sky discussion

mmm... I thought that it may be just a bit fiddly to have to use multiple screws and bolts to join it together. I guessed on 20 screws needed to create a 'stable' box: 2 for each of the 4 edges on the top and bottom (16 in total) 4 to join the sides together My other thought was to use the...

RaspberryPi + LinkMeter blue sky discussion

The thought of case fabrication get me intregued so I took a closer look at Ponoko. Don't know if anyone has seen the following page on how to fabricate 'snug' joints... I could imagine using this type of aproach to build a box. Blog Post Has anyone started to create a 3d sketch of a case?

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Hi All, I thought it about time that I posted a few pictures of my completed linkmeter and fan assembly... https://plus.google.com/photos.../5766182367025051713 The photos are shown from a test run and therefore no food probe is attached. You'll notice that I've added an barrel jack...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

The jumpers are optional and throw back to previous builds. You can either wire up all the connectors 1-6 & 11-16, or you can leave out 15 & 5 and jumper them directly on the LCD.

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Hi Tom, Yes, you can use other Probes (there have been mentions of Ikea based ones previously). The main issue when using other probes is knowing the co-efficients which allow the proper termperature to be calculated. There are previous posts on how to do this. Assuming the probe jack is the...
