    Thanks for the replies folks. I'm mostly a charcoal guy, with 22 & 26" kettles that I use to smoke, roast and grill year 'round. But I like the convenience and consistency of our 'redhead' (love that name) too. I haven't done much with it other than cleanings and a natural gas conversion...

    I had that thought as well as keeping some drippings from getting to the pan. Perhaps the move to one layer was for cost-savings. We will see. (I did try to search this first without success.) Welcome to you too Chris.

    Hello, I'm new here and glad to have found the forum. Quick question. Are the two levels of flavorizer bars in the Genesis 1000 really necessary, when other Weber gas grills have only one layer? Thanks

    Hello from Wisconsin!

    I've used nothing but Weber, charcoal and gas, for 40 years. (Can't stand it when someone asks me to cook on their big box grill.) Glad to have found this site. TJ
