    What’s Up with Summits?

Thanks guys. It's actually not too bad replacing the front panel. The hardest part is finding a sheet metal shop that will bother with the small job. Since it's not seen, you can go with 2B(mill finish) 304. The holes and slots can be done with a couple drill bits, a hole saw, and a cutoff...

    What’s Up with Summits?

Well the floor was backordered but finally arrived. It's done. I'm happy for what I have in it, but I won't be recommending a summit to anyone unless you get it super cheap and want a project. All that work on the firebox.... what my wife noticed was that the control knobs lite up🙄

I hate it when "sellers" do that....

I hate that too. I've had some luck using the glympse app. It shows someone where you're located for a short period of time. They know you're actually coming and exactly when you'll be there. But if they post the address, I move on.

Looking for people's thoughts on a potential Used Summit

Pass. Genesis ii is better built than the summit. Read up on rusting fireboxes. Keep an eye out for a 304SS from Bull, napoleon, DCS, etc. They pop up in that range.

Summit 670 on Baltimore CL $300

Ran across this. Floor & door rust look reasonable. No pics of firebox. https://baltimore.craigslist.org/for/d/weber-summit-670/6635984240.html

Purchase suggestion for new gas grill

I have a Spirit, it cooks as well as my old genesis. The closed cabinet means typical rust issue, but I like it. I got it cheap... really cheap. I don't know if I would have selected a spirit at retail though. If I go new, I've been looking at Saber grills. Reviews seem good, full 304 stainless...

    Thermoset work table replacement

I'll tell you how. Put it in the back of your truck and drive. Realize it isn't fastened on. In that order. Ask me how I know😆

    What’s Up with Summits?

I have to agree as well. Genesis is the way to go. I highly recommend the tip about drilling weep holes in the legs though. Great advice. I've refurbished several Weber gas grills, and without exception I have had to cut out rotted legs in each of them and weld in fresh metal. I actually like...

    Cleaning up a q

Sandblasting works great. Scrape off all the crud you can first. I like to scrape what I can (dry), then blast. If it's pretty dry already, it should blast off easily. I use a finer blast sand. Soda is great for delicate finishes, sand works fine on this cast stuff unless you're going for a...

    Q220 Flame level...

I read on an RV forum that some people rigged a hose with the regulator right next to the tank. I used to have the OPD issue so I just removed the regulator. I only use my Q with my RV, so I just tap into a quick connect. The RV supply is already regulated. It can be potentially unsafe to...

    What’s Up with Summits?

Oops Well I saw a typo and went to edit it... somehow deleted my post. Had it saved... Here it is again. And thanks Bruce! I'll post a pic when all done. I picked up a 670 with a bad case of firebox rot, a rusted out leg, floor, and tank blocker. Price was right... free! $350 for another...

Found: 3xx Genesis Gray Color Match

I've been using Valspar tractor & implement paint in Massey Ferguson gray. Comes in brush on or rattle can. Almost a perfect match. This cart is half original, half Valspar.

    Hi from TX

Hello all, I've found some good info here, figured I should join. I've restored several Weber Gassers for family or to flip. Currently I have a Genesis Silver, a Spirit 310, and I'm almost done restoring a Summit 670. Thanks for the info I've found already and I'm sure more yet to come!
