    Genesis Silver B- Restoration newbie

I'm in the midst of cleaning up one in very similar condition. One thing I'll add is that the inside of the lid cleaned up very nicely with some oven cleaner and SOS pads. That combo took every bit of the carbon and grease buildup off. Those same pads and magic eraser pads are useful in some of...

Bit off more than I can chew... but perhaps rescuable by you fine folks?

The angle grinder and cup wire brush combo works well. I just came in from the garage doing this on a Silver B I'm refurbing and it eats up the buildup on the walls of the firebox. Little tough to get it in the smallest nooks, but overall does a nice job on it. I didn't try a pressure washer...

Lowes $100 off all Weber Genesis Grills while supplies last...

When I got mine a couple months ago, they ordered it in from a warehouse. It's a NG version of the 330, so they didn't have many/any of them in-store. Great grill so far.

Taking it slow, since I have until Christmas and all.... Sanded and painted the side panels while still on the lid. It seems to have those tension washers or whatever they are, rather than threaded nuts. So I left them on, removed the handle and taped off the top lid with newspaper. Have new...

Anybody in SC up for a fixer-upper Summit?!??

I emailed and inquired what happened to it, out of curiosity. Sure enough, it fell off the back of a truck during a move. I don't know the Summit grills, so not sure what's involved in restoring them. It needs a full new hood no matter what. Frame probably isn't square anymore either.

New E-330 Tested: Time to Temps and High / Low

That's about what I've seen with mine. I've gotten slightly lower temps with only the far left burner on low. 225° and even a touch lower here and there. Works well for slow cooking pork shoulders. Also, the sear burner isn't a smaller one, only its knob on the front panel. It's a full-sized one...

New for 2017: Weber Genesis II Gas Grills

Hopefully the perceived decrease in quality isn't too drastic.....I have a two month old Genesis 330! Either way, it's a much nicer grill than the CharBroil it replaced. I got a good 7 years out of it, and it grilled pretty well. But when they go, they go. The new Genesis has been great so far.

Cool. Just came in from a quick cleanup. Inside of lid is like a mirror after oven cleaner and an SOS pad. Outside of lid I hit with Simple Green and 0000 steel wool. It's clean, but there's a white-ish haze on the top panel that I can't get rid of. Will read around for ideas and have another go...

Another question: any negative effects of it sitting idle until December? It's a natural gas model. Will knobs or valves or whatever freeze up? It's in my garage, so not out in the elements. Going to start a basic cleanup this afternoon.

New for 2017: Weber Genesis II Gas Grills

They're already $100 off where I live. From what I read here and there, they likely won't go much lower. And if the new ones have thinner aluminum fireboxes, maybe the current generation models are a better buy? Hard to know for sure.

    Are you Kidding ME ???

For a cup wire brush, is it a twisted wire one, or regular/crimped wire one?

    Transporting old Genesis Silver B

The part number on the frame seems to indicate it's a Silver B SWE from 2004 or 2005. What does the SWE designation mean? The serial number is gone from the label, and the first several digits/characters of the model number too. The part number is intact.

It'd be perfectly functional with a quick clean. But since it's to be a gift, I'll give it more of an update.

Glen, yours looks great! I drove five minutes from where I work for this one. Guy had it listed for probably two weeks at $95 and had no bites. Dropped the price by about half and I jumped. I'll get in to the cleanup in about a week. I'd like to pressure wash it.....can the inside be done with...

So there it is. Any and all advice appreciated. Have not connected it to the gas line to confirm, but the seller said the ignitor worked when he last used it. Will check that and see.
