    Heatermeter on Pellet Grill

One thing I would say is that you need to make sure that the SSR you use is genuine. It's worth paying a little more for one vs getting a dodgy one that fails closed....... John

    Heatermeter on Pellet Grill

I too jumped in on the Pit Boss pellet grill at Lowes. Much as I couldn't use the Heatermeter to control the grill, I could monitor the first few cooks and see just how bad the shipped controller was. And it really is ugly from a stable/set temp perspective. I did think about adapting the HM...

    38 CFM Adapt-a-Damper

Pretty simple really..... 0-50% damper control. Above 50% fan on, max fan 100%. I can't remember the min settings but in testing, my particular fan seemed to not like much below 10% min. I had the top petals fully open. Complete overkill for a PitBoss Kamado but it really accelerated up to 550d...

    38 CFM Adapt-a-Damper

Got to try this out tonight - needed to rocket my PitBoss up to 550 for a clean with the remnants of yesterdays lump from a brisket...... Love it! John

New Pit Boss blue egg smoker - need to get adapter to mount Micro Damper

So, just seeing this - I've got the PitBoss in black from a couple of years ago - essentially the same grill. I'm using the HM with a MicroDamper, very successfully. My attach is similar to everybody else: construct a metal piece to cover the door opening with a home in it. Then I've soldered...

    38 CFM Adapt-a-Damper

Just curious, what are the min fan settings for this unit? Going low seems to get the fan into a on/off state vs continuous slow running......

    WiFi Stability

Just to add a few things to check: - decent PSU for the HM (Wifi does draw a decent proportion of the current) - antenna for the HM (or proximity to the base station); if no antenna on the USB wifi, range will be very limited. This is my go-to USB set for the RPi...

    38 CFM Adapt-a-Damper

I may well build up one of these as I've been looking for a little more top end on my micro-damper. Thx.

    LCD Issue.....

And just to wrap this one up, new LCD installed and display works perfectly. Chalk this one up to a bad/dead display. Cheers, John

    LCD Issue.....

Bryan - truly appreciate the offer for an LCD but had already dived in and bought one (well, five actually) as I found some NOS on Ebay for a very fair price. One for me and the rest for future HMs :) I did separate the LCD, along with the zebra strips - everything looked pretty clean but when...

    LCD Issue.....

Thanks for the response. I'll be looking to replace the LCD in the near future.... it still works perfectly well headless! Cheers, John

    LCD Issue.....

So, this was a working HM - and still is aside from the LCD. The left and half of the display seems not to be working and the letters are garbled occasionally and offset to the right half of the display. See the image below: This was working originally, and I suspected dry joints so have...
