    Best Grill Ever?

It's been stated before but to me a genesis 1000 is the perfect grill. It's simple and incredibly durable as well as being a terrific cooking grill. To me the only way to improve it would be if it had a stainless cart frame.

    Help finding grates

Have you tried calling weber about ss grates for that grill? If I was you I would switch to ss. Personal preference but I absolutely hate cast iron grates.

Jon you absolutely have nothing to apologize for. You made a simple observation related to a grill rehab.

    Buying New Weber - 7mm vs 9mm

Jon thanks for clarifying that. The spacing is pretty good on the bbqparts grates too. Really similar to the rcplanebuyer set.

    Buying New Weber - 7mm vs 9mm

I'll offer a different opinion on the grates. I have 2 vintage weber grills that I rehabbed about 5 years ago. I put 9mm rcplanebuyer ss grates on one. And 7mm stainless grates from bbqparts on the other. I can tell absolutely no cooking or quality difference between the two. Both are...

    good to know.

    Genesis 1000 Porcelain Drip Tray

It's really sad that an essential part like these drip trays is no longer available for these wonderful old grills. I was hoping I could literally keep my father's old 1000 going forever. Or at least the rest of my life. Kind of sad to think I may eventually have to pitch it when the drip tray...

Best way to clean SS grates

There's definitely a bit of a learning curve with the chargon. The first couple of times I used it I thought it was way too slow to clean the grates one a time. Then I actually timed it and found it took me 60 to 90 seconds to clean my genesis grates. I quickly decided I can spare that amount...

If the chargon didn't work so well this is what I would use.

Best way to clean SS grates

No offense taken. Works better than any brush for me but to each his own. But even if it was less effective i wouldn't go back to using a brush. I work in healthcare and I've seen firsthand what loose grill brush bristles can do to the human GI tract. It may be a smaller risk with a higher...

Best way to clean SS grates

I think you can order directly from the company too? Not sure what shipping to the UK would cost though.

Best way to clean SS grates

Amazon has them. 20 bucks. Dirt cheap when you consider it's a lifetime tool rather than annual replacement like a brush. I tried the billy bar but for me the chargon worked much better. The chargon shape just fit the round grates much better and cleaned more thoroughly and quicker than the...

Best way to clean SS grates

Several of us use the chargon tool. It's all I've used for several years. It takes slightly longer than a brush. But still only takes a couple of minutes. It's safer than any brush. It lasts practically forever (unlike a brush). It's much more hygienic and easy to clean than a brush. AND once...

    Is Thermoworks Feeling the Heat?

I think this crazy thread is going to hit 10 pages.....

    Is Thermoworks Feeling the Heat?

Everyone's situation is a little different. My drawers aren't that well organized LOL. The side of the fridge is perfect for us. But my main concern is the actual grilling. I find it ridiculous that with the thermapen there's no way to hang it up or stick it to a side table or frame leg safely...

    Is Thermoworks Feeling the Heat?

I agree. The side of the fridge seems to me like the safest place for a valuable tool as opposed to a drawer. Not to mention the fact that the magnets can keep the tool from sliding off the grill when it's actually in use. That doesn't seem like a "gimmick" to me at all. More like a product...

    Is Thermoworks Feeling the Heat?

But why not just include it (magnets) in the product to begin with? Why make consumers buy it as an option on a premium product? Seems like a no brainer to me? Especially in the new and improved ONE model.
