    "Headless" HeaterMeter

Hi All, I am about to build my second HM and plan on making it "Headless", omitting the LCD, since I busted my first one and don't really miss it. I also want to leave out the button, since it's basically useless without an LCD. I am curious if I can just omit the LCD and button, along with the...

    HM 4.2.4 3D Printed Case

Tom, Thanks! I really appreciate it. I will have a look and see if I can start designing my own case. Ralph, I would be very interested in seeing the TC version of the sliding back. Looks like a nice little case!

HeaterMeter on the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B

I ordered 3 (two for gifts, one for fun!) when I saw this link last week, but haven't received them yet. Glad to hear it's really the model B. Thanks for the tip, Kurtis!

    HM 4.2.4 3D Printed Case

Hi Tom, it sounds like your doing it would take about a 10th the time it would take me to even install the program, so if you don't mind doing it that would be great! One concern is that without the LCD attached, will the internal supports on the case still be sufficient? I am having trouble...

    HM 4.2.4 3D Printed Case

Hi Tom, I wanted to say thank you for providing the files for the RasPi B mated HeaterMeter. I successfully built my first HM (housed in your case design) earlier this year and have been having a great time with it! I am thinking about building a second one, but headless (ie no LCD) and...

    HM 4.2.4 3D Printed Case

Hi Tom, I am curious what kind of printer you have? and what kind of filament do you use for the cases? Thanks for the info!

Build the 4.0 or Upgrade to 4.2.4

Hi Neil, I JUST built my first HM (4.2, the first cook is still going!) By the end of the process, I found the SMD parts relatively easy to get on the board, being only marginally more difficult the through-hole. This was due to understanding how to work with them, not vast improvements in...

What a noob. Just trashed my brand new v4.2.4 build

Thanks Steve. I couldn't find this information anywhere, so hopefully others will find this helpful as well.

What a noob. Just trashed my brand new v4.2.4 build

Hi Steve, thanks again with the TC issue. I am wondering how you set your fan to mannual mode in the browser interface? I made the same mistake you did on the LCD and mine is toasted as well, so I can't see if I am in the correct mode or not. I ask because my servo doesn't appear to be working...

    Thermocouple reading WAY too high

You guys are awesome! Thank you Steve, Bryan, John and Ralph for your time and thoughts on this issue. After cleaning and reflowing everything, my HM is reading 65 degF. I cleaned and reflowed at the same time, so Im not sure which did the trick, but it's working. Sorry for not cleaning better...

    Thermocouple reading WAY too high

Hi all, As far as the caps go, I will double check, but I only pulled them out of the package one at a time. However, if they were mislabeled at the shipping end I may have an issue. I did check for shorts with between pins 5/6 and 7 when doing the continuity testing, but will revisit...

    Thermocouple reading WAY too high

Hi John, I did swith the probe to thermocouple in the settings. Could you be more specific what you mean by "cap". I'm new to soldering and PCBs so sorry for the ignorance. Thanks for your help!

    Thermocouple reading WAY too high

Update: I am back to 500+ degF on the TC reading instead of no reading, just gotta figure out this voltage thing.

    Thermocouple reading WAY too high

I've included some images below. I am still not getting a reading from the TC, too high or otherwise. Could I have shorted out the actual thermocouple? Or potentially screwed up the actual TC jack? I have a backup of that I can replace it with. Let me know if you need a different angle, but that...

    Thermocouple reading WAY too high

I did the TC tests when assembling the board and everything checked out. After cleaning, now the TC won't read anything. I tried the continuity tests again, which work. The voltage tests give me 3.26V when NOT shorting the TC inputs together, and 1.48 when shorting them together. I am not super...

    Thermocouple reading WAY too high

Hi guys, I don't have flux cleaner and only 70% isopropyl. I will get some of the 99% stuff and clean the TC area and report back. I HAVE changed it in the configuration to the thermocouple. That is the setting under which it reads 570. Any other thoughts while I investigate cleaning the TC...

    Thermocouple reading WAY too high

Hi all. I finished my first HM build this evening, which is pretty exciting. Everything seems to be working correctly (except the LCD, which I'm pretty sure I screwed up), but that doesn't bother me much, I am more interested in the web accessibility of the device (which I also need help with...

Fan Mounting Solutions for Large BGE

Of course after posting this I found some information about this. Not sure how I missed it. Are two threads that include 3d printed servo dampers (one and two) That I said, I would still be interested in seeing pictures your solutions JIves and Job. I had the same question, John. It appears...

Fan Mounting Solutions for Large BGE

Howdy all, I have been thinking about getting a controller and recently ran across the HeaterMeter project. It looks like a lot of fun to put one together and will also save a few bucks on a bbq thermostat. My only concern at this point is how to mount the fan to the LBGE. I apologize if...
