    Heatermeter build issues

Sorry. This was the closest topic I could find. I didn't know if I should start a new thread. Thanks. Do you have any suggestions how to check the 10k resistors with a multimeter (plugged in or off, checking ohms or dc power?) Also, this is my first and was wondering if setting the food probes...

    Heatermeter build issues

Hey everyone. Great day for smoking. Currently have a brisket, beef and pork ribs, and 2 chickens going. I am using 4 Themaltake probes TX-1001X-OP. They were off a lot so I calibrated them. The 3 food probes were around 80 degrees under the 212 boiling temp of water, and the food probe was 145...

    HM 4.2.4 3D Printed Case

Hi, I am looking for the newest 3D case for a rPi B (with Ethernet), but using 4 probes, not a thermocouple. The newest release looks to have 3 probes and a thermocouple. If someone has these plans, can you please pm me asap. Thank you!

    HeaterMeter Hardware v4.2.4

I got it!!! Thank you guys so much. It was my fault. I went back and looked at the Signal MOSFETs and 3.3V regulator. When I ordered the parts I got 4: MCP1700-33's (IC4) and 4:BS170's (Q1,2,4,5) because of the Mouser project list was a little off at that time. It's been corrected and I used...

    HeaterMeter Hardware v4.2.4

Thank you Bryan. I checked between VCC and GND and it's showing 0.03V on my multimeter set at 20. Also, the ATmega pin 1 shows 0.03V, the same. I assume one of the capacitors in wrong? I checked a few and found 2 of the 0.01u were not reading, possibly bad. I can not find a full bare pic showing...

    HeaterMeter Hardware v4.2.4

Ralph, I did what you said and retouched the soldering joints on the ATMega socket...no luck. I then hooked up the rPi to the HDMI and it booted up so I know it is working. I tried to flash the command avrupdate /lib/firmware/hm.hex but it didnt seam like anything happened (don't know the proper...

    HeaterMeter Hardware v4.2.4

Thank you Bryan! Yes, Raspberi pi comes on just like u said. I've seen this chart before and funny how I didn't think of it. Thanks for the direction. Yes Ralph, I've adjusted contrast. Time to check with the multimeter now. Never done that before. I'll YouTube it and start with the voltages...

    HeaterMeter Hardware v4.2.4

I just finished soldering all components, went to fire it up and just a blue screen. I do not have my leds in as I am still waiting on a case. I went back and cleaned all my solder points up and still nothing. I plugged it in with and without the ras pi and still nothing. I put the software on...

    HeaterMeter Hardware v4.2.4

I just finished my board. Can anyone tell me where (TR1) the onboard 'ambient' temperature sensor goes on the board. I never saw it and have been through the instructions several times. Thanks.

    HeaterMeter Hardware v4.2.4

Which ThermoWorks Pro thermistor probe and thermocouple models do you use. I am confused on which one to get. Also, do you have to buy from their website or does anyone else sell them at a lower price? Thank you!

    HeaterMeter Hardware v4.2.4

Found a diagram. Yeah, I wish I would have known to start with the SMD soldering. Makes sense now. Still going to try. If I need to desolder the components and run the regular Probe, I will, but I would like to take advantage of the thermocouple for longevity. I have a visor which definitely...

    HeaterMeter Hardware v4.2.4

I am building my first Heater Meter. I am done with the soldering of the main board components but have not attempted the thermocouple surface mount components yet. I have them, but can not find a picture showing what components go where. I have searched most of the forums and Bryan's wiki page...

    HeaterMeter Hardware v4.2.4

I am new to this build. Will the 3d printed case fit the RaspberryPi ◦Model B (w/ Ethernet port) the same as the Model A (w/o Ethernet?) They're roughly the same price on Amazon. Do most go with Model B or Model A?
