    Free Original Weber Black Kettle

Nice score, but that's not an original kettle, it has a plastic handle and gauge in the hood. The older original ones were built much better. These are pretty flimsy, the edges of the lid get easily dented and the paint chips off in those cases in my experience. Also the grills are pretty cheap...

    Auto temp control

Dan, Looking at those ThermoWorks X4s really makes me wonder if it's not just a good time to switch myself. I don't really need logging, once I'm done with my cook I don't use my controller until I need to smoke some meat again...LOL Don't get me wrong, but I remember trying to use Stokerlog in...

    Auto temp control

Bob, Would you be willing to sell a probe? I'm looking for one to disassemble to try and figure out how the serial number works, but hate to destroy a working probe of one I have. What is wrong with your Stoker, does it power on? You might try the power adapter, those are a common failure on...

Stoker Probes...anyone have details on adopting the serial number?

I found out only about a year ago that Rock's BBQ went out of business. In the past there was a thread over on the Egghead forum that comes up with google searches, but that URL that was linked to where a guy was talking about making DIY probes for the Stoker. Since the URL disappeared, I got...

Help me out with thoughts on the Performer series, I think I've narrowed it down...

I would be over there if I lived in the area and had a friend there...:) That is certainly true, but I think I know enough about smoking and bbq that I could handle what it takes. What I'm referring to is the ease of tending the firebox, the ease of tending the smoking chamber, the grills are...

Help me out with thoughts on the Performer series, I think I've narrowed it down...

That is true to some extent, but I recently got myself a small DC tig welder and learning to weld, now I'm thinking to build my own. As far as grills go, I am attracted to the Santa Maria style. Smokers and BBQs in general are common projects for hobbyist welders, I hadn't really thought too...

Help me out with thoughts on the Performer series, I think I've narrowed it down...

I got to use my Performer for the first time a few days ago. What a disappointment to really compare a 30 year old kettle to a Performer that is a couple years old. The kettle that is a couple years old seems to have been taken care of well, the seller even cleaned the inside before selling it...

Limited Edition Weber Original Kettle Premium 22" in RED!! Order by May 12!

I couldn't agree more, and exactly why I just bought a used Performer over a new one. What's the difference, the quality is not like it used to be and a new one is going to get dented and rust spots on it just like a used one...I have a few scratches around the table, so it was used, but it's in...

Limited Edition Weber Original Kettle Premium 22" in RED!! Order by May 12!

Yeah, well in that regard most all of the new ones are "Limited" to some extent. Limited in quality. Weber is in a race to the bottom with all the other offshore companies...they are making the bed they will sleep in. :(

Limited Edition Weber Original Kettle Premium 22" in RED!! Order by May 12!

My honest feeling is that the current kettles, and I'm talking about a Performer that is a couple years old compared to a 30 year old kettle, are just not the same. :( The newer kettles just don't have the same steel, I tried to measure it and it seems that the newer kettles are about .010"...

    Rotisserie for a Weber OTG

Should also mention the Gabby's Grills, they make a Santa Maria conversion for the Weber kettle and they also have brackets for a rotisserie. They list these on craigslist, I think they're out of Santa Maria, home of the tri-tip! http://gabbysgrills.com/

    BBQ Restaurant

Paul, I do agree that steaks on the kettle are xlnt, my wife puts a good quality skirts steak as one of her favorites. We also do ribeye quite a bit, I like both of those cuts. Those are my two favorite cuts. However, as far as steak goes, I don't think the kettle does as well as the...

Limited Edition Weber Original Kettle Premium 22" in RED!! Order by May 12!

Garth, Funny thing is that Chris mentioned many components of kettles being made in China in the past number of years. I can understand that. Spring clips to hold the ash tray, nuts and bolts, the ash tray...but it seems the "Limited-Edition" was the first kettle to be fully manufactured in...

Help me out with thoughts on the Performer series, I think I've narrowed it down...

The search is over...found a Performer on craigslist in very nice condition, in traditional Henry Ford black. Has the gas lighter and charcoal storage bin, but no GBS. I can get the GBS or just get the Craycourt, which is probably a better option. As a bonus it came with a cover. Seller was...

Limited Edition Weber Original Kettle Premium 22" in RED!! Order by May 12!

Chris, I get it, and I understand...just frustrating that most of America's manufacturing is heading to China, and Weber is in the same boat as everyone else. Eventually it gets to the point that in order to cut costs of manufacturing, the vendors need to find cheap ways to do so...China is...

Limited Edition Weber Original Kettle Premium 22" in RED!! Order by May 12!

I heard these Limited Edition kettles were manufactured in China. Should the paint problems be any real surprise? Sad to see another American company start to offshore...it's a race to the bottom... Can only hope they will keep the quality up on the Summit Charcoal...I wonder if they will be...
