There is a check valve in the hose that goes from the 20 lb tank to the Q that may need to be reset in order to allow full gas flow. To reset, close tank valve, open grill valve for a minute. Then, close grill valve and SLOWLY open tank valve. Let set for 5 minutes before attempting to light.

    Q300 vs Spirit

PS RE Orifice Mod SAFETY CONCERNS AND WARNINGS I do not recommend modding the orifice - I provided the notes merely as an academic exercise. Increasing the gas flow and heat output could result in overheating and damage to the grill. It could create an unsafe condition in, or near, the...

    Q300 vs Spirit

Dear Pat, Thank you too for weighing in on the Q300! I have passed Phil and your recommendations on to her, and I think she is now looking around to get a good price on a Q300 / 320. On Long Island they are hard to find, except of course by mail order. As for the burner orifice, yes, if you...

PS: How old is a wood handled kettle?

Just curious about how old a wood handled kettle might be. It has a "J" stamped into the top vent damper. Aside from the wood handles, were the old kettles made any differently or have any special appeal? Thanks... Harry

Size Matters: single guy, apartment, Indirect kettle choices

Too Many Kettles, need help choosing: Is an 18" kettle too small for indirect cooking of things like a chicken? I'm a single guy and live in an apartment with a nice deck but limited space. I cook for myself and a maximum total of four. For the past two years I have really been enjoying a...

    Kettle companion size for Q220I

I Love my Q220. I am thinking, however, of getting a Weber kettle as well. Sometimes I run short of space on the Q and wish I had a little more room. Plus I'd experiment a little with charcoal. I'd like to try more low and slow cooking. My question is about kettle size. I mostly cook only...
