    Stoker question, multiple logs

StokerX also has an 'HTTP Only Mode", so StokerLog could be the master. I think StokerMaster for iPhone is HTTP only, with no option for telnet connection. As Amir says, the processor in the Stoker is pretty wimpy, and the HTTP polling takes more processing on the Stoker than the telnet modes...

    StokerX 0.8.0 available

I've uploaded a new version which is 32/64 bit Universal, so it should work on the older machines. http://www.flyingdiver.com/StokerX/StokerX-0.8.4.zip Let me know of any issues. Please use the built-in Feedback tool if at all possible. joe

    StokerX 0.8.0 available

Oh, I see. I forgot that there's a difference in the 32 bit and 64 bit compilers. I wrote this for the 64 bit compiler, and never went back in and added all the extra variable definitions that the 32 bit compiler needs. Grrr. That's going to be a lot of work to fix that. joe

    Graph scrolling/scaling in StokerX

As currently implemented, there are no scaling or scrolling controls for the temperature plot in StokerX. The plot rescales automatically based on the duration of the cook, and you see the entire cook in the plot no matter how long it goes. Obviously, there's a loss of detail in the longer...

    Stoker in competitions

If you're using a Stoker, the top vent should be full open. If the Stoker was struggling to keep the heat up, it was probably having a hard time getting enough air into the WSM with the vent almost closed. I've gone 12 hours or more before adding any charcoal, after starting with just a...

    Stoker in competitions

You might also consider switching to the 5 cfm fan which is the recommended size for an 18.5" WSM. The 10 cfm might be contributing to the temp overshoot, since it's blows more air than the WSM needs. I have the WSM w/ the 5 cfm fan and it works fine. I also only use a foiled pan (no water). joe

    StokerX 0.8.0 available

BTW - I'd really appreciate it if some users could test the email notifications. I'm getting some weird results on my system and I want to know if it happens on other OS versions. Specifically, the emails seem to go out OK, but if I later quit Mail.app, it won't exit until it resends a bunch...

Stoker - Water, Clay Pot or Empty Pan ?

I don't really consider the clay disk to be a heat sink, more like a diffuser or baffle between the coals and the first rack. I stopped using water as a heat sink as soon as I got the Stoker. joe

Stoker - Water, Clay Pot or Empty Pan ?

I'm currently using a foiled empty pan. I'm planning on moving to a (foiled) clay pot base (disk) as soon as I find one the right size. It's a real pain to restock the charcoal through the side door with the water pan in the way. joe
