Thanks for the tips everyone. Realized the parts that looked like tack welds were actually just built up grease LOL. Got the basket off and getting ready to start disassembly on the second Genesis I am going to restore (blue top). Hope to get a good amount of both frames sanded down this weekend.

Really? Yeah it certainly felt stuck on and looking closely thought I could see a couple of small tack welds, but maybe just corrosion. I'll try and remove it once I get home today. That would be great if I can yank it off.

Awesome, thanks! The 2 Genesis models that I'm currently restoring have the plastic handles, but I'm assuming you're talking about the wooden ones? That will be a great resource if/when I restore another unit with the wooden slats.

Going to be restoring this weber genesis over the next couple of weeks to keep me occupied while I'm self quarantined at home. Next steps will be degreasing everything and seeing what needs paint and what doesn't. Thinking I'll just be painting the firebox and lid if I can get restore the frame...

I was going to order the replacement part today, but i will wait if you can check tonight, I'd gladly buy yours. Do you have the complete assembly? The switch isn't hard to get but the square bracket that it sits in is the part that's discontinued.

Thanks J, Yes, that 92515 is discontinued from weber. I ordered from ereplacements and they said it would never be available... so not sure why they're still advertising it. I'll take a look at that other part you mentioned. Couldn't hurt to try it as it's pretty cheap. Thanks!
