    Power source. barrel size. converter?

Yup - solid and no problems. Test fire last night with new microdamper and new PS, and not a hiccup with the PS.

    Power source. barrel size. converter?

Good point about another point of potential problems. Saw the bulk solder ons, and will probably go that route, but for Hudson Valley next week, will probably just go with a 3 or 4mm stril of electrical tape. Hadn't thought of just insulating the exposed barrel.

    Power source. barrel size. converter?

So, I'd been running off a 1a Netgear ps with no problems. Recently added a microdamper, so for the heck of it, and to have a some more headroom, i picked up a 5a switching ps off of amazon. Turns out that this ps has a 12mm long barrel, and the HM's power socket is only 9mm. I've been...

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

Ok. Got her all assembled. Tested snd worked, but a the fan was hitting a wire, so i opened it up and made some adjustments. Put it back together and plugged in the 3.5mm, and the servo jumped a little open. Unplugged and it jumped a little again towards open. Plugged bsck in and jumped a...

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

Im assembling mine and i have a question. Are you guys removing the mounting tabs on the servo? Mine is hanging up, but i feel like if i push it will click in place. Also on the side where the jack is it seems that the tab might interfere with the jack if i don't cut off. Thanks, Don

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

Mitch, i dont have the microdamper (yet), but I'm currently using a 1-1/2" x close nipple attached to a dog bowl with electrical locoknuts, to which i connect pvc. Then duct tape the stock HM blower which is attached to a cardboard flap valve. When i build the microdamper, I'm just going to do...

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

Chargriller Smokin pro offset. Hope to upgrade in the relatively near future to a yoder or horizon. That's why I was thinking the small fan on the big damper. I like the big cross sectional area for lower velocities.

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

That's exactly what I was thinking. I like the large open area - less restriction, and lower velocity to blow the ash around when the fan kicks on.

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

Thanks steve. Sometimes the simplest answer is not the most obvious. As an aside, what size is the opening for the mAcrodamper. Perhaps I'd print that and make an adapter plate for a smaller fan.... hmmm.

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

Hey all, My dogbowl has a 1-1/2" close nipple mounted to it. Rather than messing with an 1-1/2" x 1" reducer coupling and a 1" close nipple, how hard would it be to modify the 1" npt housing to 1-1/2" npt (female)? Keep in mind I have 2D Autocad experience, but no 3d experience. I could use...

    Heatermeter on battery success!

Any guesstimate on how much draw the servo will add?

    Heatermeter on battery success!

As mentioned previously, I use a rather inelegant solution for battery power. I've noticed these higher capacity phone chargers, but it's not clear to me how you'd power the HM using a USB cable when the power input is a standard DC pin. Thanks, Don

    Heatermeter on battery success!

My battery solution consists of a "dead" tractor batter (one that would no longer start the tractor), a 12v cig lighter socket with alligator clamps and a fuse, and a 12v 2A cig lighter power adapter. Works like a charm. Longest cook so far: 8 hours

Latest Software: LinkMeter v12 and firmware

I was having the same "problem" too, but John Bostwick clarified to mee that the set temps in the alarm page are there as an "action" that occurs when the alarm is triggered. It you don't want anything to happen to the setpoint when the alarm occurs, then leave the "set" field in the alarm page...
