    Weber Gas Firepit question

Larry, I think they are designed to deal with being left uncovered. Water if it does get inside will drain well. In fact, I think a lot of them get left out all year with no covers at all, which I don't recommend.

Spent the weekend cooking on a flat top...

Yah, I wish they would stick with the term "Griddle" when referring to this style of cooking implement.

Quick partial disassembly of Weber genesis 1000

I would let it burn a whole longer to see if the flames even out some. But, most likely, that middle burner is rotting out and needs replacing or you need to open the vent on the burner tube some. DId you do any cleaning on the burners?

Summit B4 gets its first Wash after Restoration (after 2 years)

I would not have painted the inside of the lid. The excessive heat inside the grill could cause the paint to release noxious if not toxic gasses that you probably don't want food exposed to.

Quick partial disassembly of Weber genesis 1000

Usually with wing nuts, no washers. If you replace the wing nuts with hex nuts, you should use a 1/4" lock washer.

I have done a 16 pounder on my roto. I am sure it could have been bigger.

The weld does not interfere with removal. I am not actually welding two pieces together. I am simply creating a small knob of metal that keeps the middle burner from sliding to far in to the left. If I do any more rehabs this year, I will take some photos and post them.

You can buy just the Flavo bars from Votenli, but with the discount on the set, the burners are basically free.

Yes, every set from my last haul. But, I just ran out of all of them and now I am hoping they have changed the design....but I am not holding my breath. When I first started buying the Votenli's, they seemed to fit just fine, but they changed about a year or so ago.

John, I found a simple solution for the short center burner tube. It is simple if you have a welder anyway. I just put a little spot weld a little in front of the crimp at the end of the tube and that keeps it from sliding too far in to the left.

LOL. I think it will take a bigger surge than just a dozen or so. They are likely expecting an uptick after the discount. Now if a few other rehabbers jump in and stock up, then that is different.

That is what is so admirable.....I hate that part. When I was rehabbing 1000's, I would convert all wood ones to durawood for flipping them.

A Tale of Two Silver B's: Chapter Two - "The Block Party Grill"

Yah, these grills, especially the older ones are not that complicated. But people still can't figure them out. When I picked up a rehab Silver B early this spring, I pulled the greased tray out to transport the grill and the guy looked stunned and then said, "Oh, I didn't know that you could...
