    Weber FT400

Same here on spare parts - and faded control panel plus slide tables. Those parts unique to the Flat Top are going to be a really tough challenge, but as Larry noted earlier, the matching Summit parts are often available cheap - or even free - as those grills do come up for sale now and then. As...

Lazy Old Weber Guy Here - Thinking of the Searwood: What's all the fuss over Grill Marks?

Definitely want to hear your follow-up, Larry. I picked up a used smaller Ninja Woodfire a while back. I regret not holding out for the XL, but then again for how I use it, the regular size is adequate. If anything, my results on simple things like grilled burgers or chicken, is that the smoke...

Lazy Old Weber Guy Here - Thinking of the Searwood: What's all the fuss over Grill Marks?

Robby, If your focus was more on low and slow with just moderate expectations for high heat grilling, I would say the Searwood would be a very good choice. But given your expressed reservations - and even though I agree with Larry’s assessment of Tom’s reviews on the Searwood - I wonder if a...

    Weber FT400

Maybe not everyone has seen this period ad from Weber in Australia: https://tvwbb.com/threads/1997-98-weber-flat-top-ad-from-australia.54346/

    Weber FT400

Yes it is. Most of it is interchangeable with a 1st gen 400 series Summit. Steve, I hope you can accept restoring it even though it won’t be perfect. If you decide to part it out, though, I am interested in the sliding lids as mine are very faded. I would gladly put up with a few scratches. It...

Two weekend makeover of a G1000 Greenie

Greenie is looking great and will be ready for plenty more years of service! I see you made your own decals. Cool, but if they are inkjet and don't hold up for you, I do ones printed by a print shop on vinyl peel and stick very reasonably.

Seeing Double: Taking on an antique Broilmaster D2 & lessons for Weber restores

It is certainly an uphill fight to restore one of these old and unique double Broikmasters, and adapting some similar newer parts would be almost a certainty. I regret that I didn’t do an adequate job of photographing the disassembly back in 2020, but I remember thinking that a lot of fuel...

    Is this Summit worth it?

I agree, Larry. The original grates likely could have been restored. Maybe the prior owner - unlike @Josh Dekubber - wasn’t up for the effort it would have taken.

Pretty much a Holland Grill. I think where these would shine is something like doing chicken pieces. No worries about flareups or blackened skin, just steady moderate heat. Some of these have a built-in smoke tray, but you can easily do the same on your own. I agree with Larry that this cooking...

    Broilmaster P4 pick-up, test run....

Wow, Josh! When you jump, you go with both feet in! I will be very interested to see what you do with these. The $350 original price on the first one was too high - although well worth it - but you got that at a steal and now a FREE one! I agree with Larry about these being excellent cookers...

Josh, Broilmasters are well built, American made grills. Simple construction. The only real weak link is the igniter. Those stainless “waterfall” grates are a very cool idea allowing two levels in the smaller size and three levels in the larger version. That price is high, not because they...
