Free Genesis 1000 Pick Up with Control Panel Fade

That panel is pretty far gone, but I have had some decent luck with this product. It is not a miracle solution, but it does work better than any other remedy I have tried. On a minor fade situation it can totally eliminate the fade. In a case like yours it probably cannot, but it will look a lot...

Yes the 3 grates are identical and can be had in cast iron or very nice stainless.

    Charmglow Party Host HEJ 1T

I have seen a Charmglow Chef’s Choice for sale a couple of times. It is, for sure, another special grill from days gone by. I love the scroll work reminiscent of patio furniture from that era. I can’t recall if one half was charcoal and the other gas.

Yes, that one has the same timer my “double” has. Mine no longer works. The control panel and front shelf look like mine as well. From the same time period, I am sure.

    Charmglow Party Host HEJ 1T

Late to the party, but absolutely post away, Josh! I share your appreciation for classic old stuff. When it comes to grills it is also very interesting to see what Weber was comparing against when they came up with the ground breaking innovative design of the Genesis. I love those old grills...

    Found a Platinum C

I am with Jeff that those are extra cool Webers, and the particular one you got is my personal favorite. You just need a little more room to accomodate those big “wing” side tables!

WEBER GENESIS PLATINUM C - RESTO

Yes, I swiped that from a 3rd generation Summit that I had given up on. One other cool thing I did was to replace the bottom with stainless tube frame pieces and durawood slats on aluminum z channel. What I never got to was making stainless or aluminum side and back pieces to complete my...

WEBER GENESIS PLATINUM C - RESTO

Love it Mark! Probably my favorite of that generation of Webers. I used to have one but decided to sell it when I moved. I miss that grill!

Searwood 600: St. Louis and Baby Backs

Learning a new grill takes a few tries, but it is obvious you are heading in the right direction. Those ribs look great!👍

    Genesis knobs and switches

One of my dream goals is to work on my accumulated old used parts and restore a bunch of each kind, as Josh has shown here and some others have posted about. Having an inventory of prepped small parts ready to go would really streamline restorations. Alas, until I get to retire in a year and a...

I used regular (non high heat) spray paint for my Genesis 1000 frame. Is this ok or do I have to start over?

I think it is very possible that you will have some bubbling where the frame touches the firebox, especially if you do longer or very high heat cooks. If this is a keeper, I probably would just live with it and figure that you will have to repaint the frame in a couple of years. By then it might...

I would love to see that one with ebony or very dark walnut stained wood slats and handles or black durawood and handles. Also, black control knobs.

I think he's got an unhealthy obsession

Well, Larry, you know I personally like "stripes" but only as decorations. I do get that they don't equate with really searing meat. Even at that, most pellet grills aren't going to give you bold stripes or a real sear. I agree with what you said that there are much better choices for that. So...

Picked up a Sequoia, restoration time

Cool stuff, there, Mike. (y) I have never heard of that, but then again in my regular life I am just an accountant!! Any links for brand names for the sanding sealer?

Picked up an old broilmaster double grill today...

Looks good to me. On my later model, the heat shield on the oven side is integrated with the burner as one assembly. My original one is kind of rough, but I still might try to salvage it just to see. I picked up one of the clearance-sale last remaining new ones a while back. You probably won't...

I know Mark as well. In fact, I helped him with a few obscure parts including a tray to match his gray pinstripe hooded Genesis 4 I believe. He is a very nice person and does stunning restores. That would be a great time to be able to attend! A little far away, though!

I think he's got an unhealthy obsession

I really like Tom and enjoy most of his reviews. Something about the Searwood just seems to have gotten under his skin that he can't let go of. It seems to me that when he reviewed the new lower-price Traeger that it also showed temps on the digital screen that were not supported by his "pucks"...

    Curb Alert !!!

Looks like a good potential Genesis 1. I see the tank slider but no tank scale? Oddly, the warning sticker has been put on the front screen.
