Quick partial disassembly of Weber genesis 1000

Thank you Bruce. I may ask if he’ll do it for $50. If I decide to go the sandblasting route I’ll let you know what I find out.

Quick partial disassembly of Weber genesis 1000

Are you saying @Josh Dekubber permanently smells like a cookout? Seriously, this will be my personal grill. Learning along the way to maybe flip a few a year but don’t know enough yet. As we all know, this hobby can get to be a little expensive if we don’t watch ourselves.

Quick partial disassembly of Weber genesis 1000

Ok just checking. 😀 is the sandblasting decision based on saving time and/or final finished surface. I assume both. I’m trying to justify if sandblasting. $80 an hour was what I was told. This seems to be the going rate I In the Detroit area. How long does it take typically for the fire box...

Quick partial disassembly of Weber genesis 1000

I bought the cheapest angle grinder from HF. at that time I know they didn’t have the 4 inch cup crimped. Come to think of it I don’t believe they had 3 inch either at my location. I’ll have to go back and take another look. Did Bruce buy up the 3 inch stock too? 😃

I will just leave this here

He change the price from $90 to $500, then down to $300 for a couple days, then jacked it up to $500 again today. Dude is playing games. Was wondering if that grill was worth $300, though?

Quick partial disassembly of Weber genesis 1000

Do you think these twisted cup brushes would be too aggressive for the fire box and lid side panels? Or just stick with the crimped?

    Side Burner Side Lock Question

I plan on taking the fire box off tomorrow and start disassembling the frame. I’m not familiar with the bottom crossbeam on this grill. Looks like there would be an insert inside the tubing that accepts the bolt. I think that may be broke. Anyway, I’ll just have to take it apart and assess...

    Side Burner Side Lock Question

I really think the grill is a bit wobbly at the moment. Once I get the frame shored up I am hoping that the burner will sit snugly.

I was thinking that too. Anyways, I have Frankenstein 3000 with a floppy side burner at the moment…but I’m determined to fix it right!!!

    Side Burner Side Lock Question

serial number matches up to the grill’s description but I haven’t seen a 3000 with the rh fold up table. Only 4000 have that rh table (that I know) but they have the flame sensor unit. This one doesn’t. Anyways there isn’t a schematic for the model I have. I’m probably missing something though.

    Side Burner Side Lock Question

This is LP. Blue lid AFF model. Serial number says it’s a 3000 but it doesn’t look like a 3000. Looks like a 4000 without the flame sensor thingy. Sorry not sure why the pics come in sideways.

    Side Burner Side Lock Question

There has to be two different brackets. They have to be sym opp. I only can find the rear one for sale. That flange that clips into the burner pan would need to be flipped 180

    Side Burner Side Lock Question

Mind you the grill is in pretty rough shape and is a bit wobbly but I just can’t imagine that one bracket will make the burner secure enough. It may be that the slot on the burner pan is sloppy. I’m almost at tempted to put a slot on the front side, the same as the back and add another bracket...
