Wondering what my genesis gold is worth

I paid $100 for mine in MA last year. Needed cleaning, and as it was for my own use I put on new flavorizers and grate. The old ones were worn but serviceable, some rust on the porcelain grates.

Ready to give up on Lump

That's what I was thinking, the 2nd grate. If I decide to try lump again.

    Glove recommendations?

I went with these as I couldn't find any in the stores around me. I have XL hands, these one size gloves are small on me. They work, but they are small. I would think any thin cotton glove would work. I thought I would be tossing them out as I used them, so I bought a multi pack. In reality...

Ready to give up on Lump

Followup. I tried the "bad" bag of B&B, starting a pile in the grill using 2 fire starters. After 25 minutes coals around 1 of the starters had lit for about a 4" circle, at the 2nd starter, almost nothing started. A bad thing about starting, or in my case attempting to start, the fire right in...

    Glove recommendations?

I've noticed similar with my leather welding gloves. By the time I get to the door carrying hot cast iron the heat works thru the gloves. Guess when they advertise it's good till 900 degrees, they mean for a very short time. I don't use any gloves for handling foods "on" the grill. I do use...

    Which grill for camping?

I traded in my Smokey Joe for a Jumbo last winter for camping, it's easier to cook for 4 and easier to do indirect. I suppose the base and lid of the WSM would work but the JJ is more conductive to being portable, locking lid an all. I have an 18" kettle, to me it'd be too big to hassle with...

Ready to give up on Lump

Now that's worth a shot, I have a box of starter cubes. Been using a chimney for so long I didn't think about not using one. I wonder if the Black Diamond, is a uniform as the video makes it look , or if it's more like a McDonald's commercial where what you see is not what you get? My B&B sure...

What is the best way to grill corn on the cob?

Sounds like food while camping, it always tastes better.

Ready to give up on Lump

Maybe it got wet at some point. All I know for sure is I don't want to hassle with it. I've used the bag 4 times so far, none of which started nicely. This is the only time I had low temp from it, this is also the only time I spread the coals over the whole grill as opposed to using the...

Ready to give up on Lump

There must be something wrong with this bag. I dumped the chimney shown above, 10 min later I started some roadside ckn, after 35 min more the fire is down to 250 according to the lid thermometer. I moved everything over to the Genny. I'll try the other bag but this one goes to the dump.

Here's a full chimney in the 22", is this about what you end up with?

Ready to give up on Lump

Bought my 1st 2 bags of lump, this happens to be B&B, I'm having nothing but issues trying to get this stuff lit in a Weber large chimney. The chunks are for the most part pretty big, like bigger then 3x3, some are maybe 6x4 limbs. I've tried placing them in the chimney to get them to pack down...

What is the best way to grill corn on the cob?

Last night I figured I try NOT pulling the silk till after grilling on 1 of 3 ears. Cut the end silk and loose husks then stripped back the remaining 2 to desilk. When we found little worms in the 2 stripped ones we did the same on the one I wasn't going to do. That's the first I've seen wih...

We need a gas grill t-shirt

You are right, I just went thru the first few pages of the gas grill sub forum, it's pretty much all about repairs of one sort or another. Guess when I look at it, the forum is about all aspects of grilling so it gets mixed up. The T shirts are propane grill specific, not forum wide.

I think if you make it about rehabs you cut a lot of people out of getting one.

What is the best way to grill corn on the cob?

MY wife doesn't care for the char, whether that's the look or the taste I don't know. The end result is we do it in the husk. Been peeling back the husks, removing the silk, and attempt to put the husks back in place, which doesn't work very well. I end up needing to tie it in place, okay, sort...
