My Grills of a Lifetime revealed

Here are the Eggs I have: XL (24"), L (18"), Med (15"), Small (13"), Mini (10"). I also have a Bubba Keg which is an 18" double walled and insulated kamado. I like the smaller one because it is quicker to temp, uses less lump. The only one I purchased new was the small. The others I picked...

My Grills of a Lifetime revealed

I have to say, of all the grills that I have, my pick is not the most flexible or capable smoker/grill that I have. I have a ranch, 26", 22" WSM, and some eggs and other webers, but my pick would be my medium Big Green Egg. It only has a 15" cooking grid, but it is definitely my go to grill...

Weber Summit Charcoal - Obscure Details and Assembly

Congrats on your purchase, you have a great wife, as you already know. Thanks for posting the pics, this was a great review. I am excited to see your cooking experiences with it. I agree with you on the diffuser. I thought it was a hefty hunk of metal. You don't get that impression until...

Attitude on Weber Summit Charcoal Grill pricing

Yes that sounds right. I will say that I would think the egg uses less fuel because of the ceramic mass. I have no way of proving this yet, just a hunch. The xl egg isn't portable at all. This would be more portable. I got a bubba keg when lowes was closing them out for $300. That thing is...

Attitude on Weber Summit Charcoal Grill pricing

I liked the diffuser, the heft of the grill, and the ease of moving it. I also liked that when I asked the missus what she thought, she said she thought we would be getting one in the next year. :coolkettle: Honestly, it felt more or less like I was standing in front of my XL egg, but with a...

Weber Summit Charcoal Grill and Summit Charcoal Grilling Center - New for 2016

I have someone that wants to buy my large BGE, and I will be looking to sell the small BGE as well. Both proceeds will go towards the SCG fund. I think I will hold out for the one with the cart, even as ridiculous as the price is. My XL BGE goes for a similar price here locally (close to...

First cook on my new Ranch Kettle.

Well done. I have a ranch we use every summer for family get togethers. It sits dormant the rest of the time, while I dream of using it for cooks like yours.

    18 or 22, I'm struggling.

I seasoned mine with food that I cooked. I honestly dont think "seasoning" a WSM is of any value. I washed it just to clean any manufacturing goo, and started making new goo with pork butts, chickens, ribs, ....... Enjoy your cooker.

    Bonehead move with 18"WSM

Take out the access door, the water pan, open all the vents, and dump two lit chimneys in it. Let it run until the fuel is exhausted. The smoker and grates will be clean, might need to use oven cleaner on the water pan left in a garbage sack for a few hours though.

No more Pork Belly or Tri Tip at my COSTCO :(

I've noticed from looking at forums that what Costco carries is region specific. Salt Lake City still has them. Always does. When I travel to SoCal I always make sure I can grill at a relatives house or pick up a cheap Weber in CL. SoCal seems to carry prime tri tips, and the marbling is...
