    Assign Pit probe

Thanks for the response Bryan. Too much trouble for what it's worth so I'll be sticking with the thermocouple!

    Assign Pit probe

Hi there, Is it possible to assign a probe (other than Probe 0) to be the Pit Probe? I have a thermocouple probe mounted thru the side wall of my smoker but wanted to try an ET-73 (or 732) on the middle of the grid. Thanks as ever.

    HeaterMeter Hardware v4.2.4

Clocking error maybe? Wild guess but I've had problems with Atmega32's before when the external clock source was not good. Check soldering on your oscillator. Also that none of the Atmega pins are curled up etc. I'm no expert and Bryan will surely have better info! Also confirm it was a new...

so how are you attaching your blower to the smoker

Here is the "airburner" installed in the fire bowl; 4mm holes but I may increase these to 5mm. I struggle to get the smoker to over 325F last night but this may have been other causes!

so how are you attaching your blower to the smoker

My V2 Rotary Blower lives! Thanks Tom Kole for the excellent design. The 3D prints I had done by a local bureau were pretty poor and need a lot of sanding and filing to get to a functional state. Job done and this was the result; I opted to use the 22mm brass compression fittings so...

    3D Printed Barrel Servo/Fan

This was close but not perfect. I had to grind off the bottom clip (as you look at the picture) and then glued it in with the wire covers facing the fan. I'll post some pictures of the finished unit.

    Hot Key P

If I remember correctly I could not get the P key to bring up the PID screen until I connected the Pit Probe (Thermocouple on my unit).

RJ45 jack woes Please could I ask someone to post an image of the TECH brand RJ45 jack? I've purchased 3 different types but none fit. This is the image of the commonly available ones here that are too wide. Thanks again!

    3D Printed Barrel Servo/Fan

V2 Rotary Damper printed in the UK I've received my V2 Rotary Damper back fro the 3D print service I found online. The layers/striations mean that the parts will not mate easily nor does the damper rotate freely. I'm going to have to sand the surface down to get it to a point where it will be...

    Power supply confusion...

This from Brian's HeaterMeter 4.x Software Installation page; "....Insert the SD card into the Raspberry Pi and power it up using either the 12V barrel jack on the HeaterMeter board or the rPi micro USB power input. Do not hook up both at the same time! For the first boot, using the rPi USB...

Dave Smith - Looks like a super stable cook! Are you using a servo damper? What blower and PID parameters are you using?

    More ET-732 blues

The ET-732 probe I just received also had a plug that is too long meaning that they do not work when plugged in too far. Problem solved by cutting a 2mm length of silicon fuel hose and sliding this onto the plug to act as a stop. Good firm plug connection and no risk of it being pushed in too...

Running HM off of a battery (a review)

Surely a 12v SLA battery is a better way to go? A 12 Ah battery would last a normal cook without being over discharged. Any thoughts?

How may HM Builders in the UK

Hi, Another part time UK builder here - 50% of my time in Nairobi. I purchased most parts from the US with a few locally from RS and Maplin. I'm awaiting local 3D printing of Tom's Rotary Damper design although I ordered the HM case from him in the US.

Wifi - no mac address, scan doesn't find any networks

I had endless grief with an Edimax adapter which had worked perfectly on another Raspberry Pi running Raspex/XBMC. I ordered an RT5370 based adapter and it worked first time and is now rock solid. For the UK based users the adapter I am using is http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00JSZBHLE/
