    Chuck-The-Used-Charcoal

Now that is a good idea... I'm stealing this one. Normally put new lit ones on top of the remaining pile, so I use about 1/2 compared to a "clean" grate.

That feeling when you know what is about to happen next will be amazing....

Sounds familiar Xavier. I started with el cheapo HD grill for $100 bucks, didn't see what the big deal was. Then got a performer as a b-day surprise and have never looked back. I now have a few different models, the WSM 18.5 gets the most luv'n. Welcome to the addiction...

New business venture for Bob Correll?

LMAO! Now we just need to get Chris to add an emoji poop to the editor to round out the responses to this thread.

Does lid holder scratch the lid ?

Yes. I was bummed after finding some scratches on my performer last summer. I was sliding it over and into the holder, now I pick it up and drop it in. No new scratches that I can tell. It is a bit of a challenge doing that with my 26" but it's used infrequently (-no side table [yet!] )...

    New WSM owner having problems

Joe, my WSM did the same thing when it was new, after about the 3rd cook. Although not as severe as yours seems to have glued up. The lid vent glued up on mine as well. Thankfully after some more use and nice layer of grease has built up and it is no longer sticking. The vent moves free now...

    MAJOR Cooking Slump & Hiatus

RC, I hit a slump sometime back. Was burning food, over spicing things, and just didn't like the hassle of cooking things. So I just stopped cooking and found a new hobby - camping. Got my mojo back sometime later on a fluke cook of some chicken on a camping trip. Didn't do anything special...

Does charcoal go bad or become unuseable?

My dumb sister left a bag of kingsford comp sitting on a pile of her stuff (junk) at my moms. It sat in the rain all summer long. Finally I got Po'd and took it home to dry out on the back porch. It made for some great cooks and smokes!

    Got Elk ? or not.....

Both are nice elk - congrats. We used to go there when I was a kid, fun times. More recently we used to hunt way west and south of Quemado (south of Red Hill) but stopped going. The guys from Texas were "tearing it up" a couple of years in a row so we decided to stay away (didn't want to get...

Best wood to smoke the bird? Pecan any good?

I used pecan this year, 2 medium and 1 small chunks. Flavor was good but a little on the lite side. Used 2 big chunks of apple last year, very tasty and many compliments.

baby backs - foiling the foil

I've stopped using foil on my ribs too. Realized I like the texture without it... always foiled in the past, don't remember why I tried it without.

Be careful when uncovering your grill

Me too. The mice and spiders have a few acres to poop on so they need to stay off my porch.
