    Ceramic briquettes in WSM?

you know i thought about that too after reading this: http://www.amazingribs.com/tips_and_technique/weber_smokey_mountain_setup.html "For the 22.5" WSM I recommend the fuse or snake method. Remove the charcoal ring and put a large rock in the center of the charcoal grate, about 8" in diameter...

FIRST PHOTO: 14.5" Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker Model 711001

No heat shield externally, but it does have a grease tray from a smokey joe mounted under the charcoal grate. http://help.weber.com/schematics/browse.aspx?Model=711001&Sequence=14 I'm thinking that air pocket it forms between it and the bottom bowl serves the same purpose and looks better...

Chris, no EXTERNAL heat shield but look at part number 14 - an internal grease tray? maybe that performs the same function as an external heat shield? Also it has the side mounted silicone grommet I saw in another thread...

14.5" Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker Model 711001

Are you saying the schematics don't have a water pan, bc I think #10 looks like the water pan... Or are you asking if you can safely cook the chicken without a heat sink?

New Cajun Bandit Door not fitting properly

my plan is when this dries, 24 hrs-ish, to put another gasket around the bottom edge of the flange on the middle portion that seals against the bottom section - if that makes sense? will post pics if flickr allows me...

New Cajun Bandit Door not fitting properly

yeah, my CB door didn't fit exactly the same way my stock door didn't fit. adjustments to the stock and CB made it better. my CB door bent pretty easy after sitting in the sun under the stock weber vinyl cover, it was pretty hot today. uploading pics of gasket. my WSM seems to burn great but...
