LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

OK, here we go....I'm going to go down the road and try to build this thing. :D From the wiki assembly / parts list: Mouser is out of stock on the 10k trimmer resistor / pot. (http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=T73YE103KT20virtualkey61330000virtualkey72-T70YE-10K) Digikey is...

    rib roast question

When we've done a rib roast, we've had better luck in achieving the desired results with a sear at the end. My philosophy is that a sear at the beginning - particularly one in an oven vs direct or skillet - puts significantly more heat into the outer layer of meat, and that ends up with 3/4 or 1...

Pork Loin stuffed with mushrooms, spinach, bacon, and goat cheese

We made this, along with another loin stuffed with a challah/apple combo, for a Christmas dinner. It was certainly a winner - thanks for sharing, Keri! Jarrod

Better Tailgate Grill: One Touch or Smokey Joe

I know it's a little blasphemous in these parts but my tailgate / take along charcoal grill is a #18 from here: http://www.oldsmokey.com/Produ...dsmokeycharcoal.html LOVE it.

    Tri Tip

Yep, my local Sam's cuts them up the same way....but if you talk to the nice man behind the meat counter, you get two options: 1. If you call early in the day, before the slice them, they can hold a couple roasts for you, un-cut. 2. If you want a bunch, you can buy an entire cryo bag of uncut...

    Bumped the smoker,DOH!

Phil, are you using the pan that comes with the smoker? It's just a tiny bit small for the tabs that it lives in. I've found the Brinkmann pan (water, I think? There's info about it here, and it's been a couple of years since I got it) fits MUCH better than the stock pan, and the bonus is that...

    Glaze ablaze... raspberry chipotle?

I know you want homemade and all....but... My Sam's has a raspberry chipotle sauce on the shelf - this one: http://www.finefoodsoftheworld.com/catalog/product_info...4dde8f72110033f4b343 I'm assuming most (all?) Sam's would have the same. We like it a LOT - even though most of the time we...

    New Kingsford Sucks!

Yep. Home Depot in West Des Moines had a pallet of old Kingsford twin packs in the standard location, priced at 7.98/pack. Four packs made it home with me - decent price if nothing else. Jarrod

Drumettes for the Big XII Championship

An alternative would be to pull the wings and toss 'em on the regular grill for a few (15?) minutes at a fairly high heat to crisp up the skin just before serving. Could probably use that as a way to cook ahead of time and reheat when it's serving time, too... Jarrod

    First try at ribs

Charles- Head to your nearest Home Depot and pick up a Charbroil rib rack. It will hold your six half-slabs of ribs just fine. When you want to foil, do like a friend of mine does - just stack them up, 3 or so slabs at a time, and wrap the pile. Then unwrap and put back on for a bit, like...
