    Grill and Grate Holder

Love your clever improvisation! I have an old tool that came with some grill somewhere...it works but isn't as versatile as what you have fabbed up.

Time will tell, but I don’t expect it to be just a showpiece for looking. I want it to look nice, but if I keep it, I will definitely be using it!

Not at all a derail. Lots of helpful information for me as well as future restorers.👍

I promised to post a picture of the massive cast iron side burner grates in their “as is” condition: Cleaning these and storing them out of the elements is a priority. Considering the many years they likely sat outside year round, I think they look pretty good. A testimony to their extreme...

The Vieluxe also has a 1/2 inch spit.

Looks perfect! I would never have guessed it wasn’t original.

    56" Vieluxe Redux

ONE LITTLE PIECE OF PROGRESS I have had a number of family and work issues prevent me from getting much done on this Vieluxe. I am trying to at least start getting some smaller parts worked on so I can store them once restored and have them ready to reinstall once the main work is done - which...

    Blue/Sidewinder/330/Restoration/Could Go Any Direction

I also think this issue is more common on 300 series Genesis grills.

Looks pretty standard. I will post a picture. EDIT: Here you go:

    Weber Summit 425

I do not believe that the side burners are interchangeable. The knobs are not the same, but they should still work. The move from the 1st generation Summit to the 2nd was a big one - and not in the right direction!

Thank you, Larry! I went ahead and snagged that one. Looks like the original, 304 stainless, and plenty of power.

I would say that the one in your photo is the original. Looks much beefier than the typical black Weber ones.

Looks good, Larry. I think I know the answer already, but do you feel this motor is more powerful than the regular Weber one or this one from OnlyFire - I got mine with their 22" kettle rotisserie kit? It is only 4 watts and rated to 20 pounds. The Gleason Avery one you linked says only 22 amps...

    56" Vieluxe Redux

Any identifcation info on that one, Larry? I might see if I can be as lucky finding one. I was going to use either a black Weber one or my stainless Onlyfire like @R Chin did. EDIT: The brochure says the motor was stainless. Ever seen a Weber branded one in stainless?

We all need to do better chronicling the progress of our restorations. There is a lot of experience here to share for the future.

    Curb Alert !!!

I was thinking more like a loose burner where fire went back toward the burner knob. That actually happened to me years ago.

    Weber Summit 425

If you mean those flavorizer clip bars, I agree that this design was pretty poor and not destined to last. One of my individual clips is broken. I had no idea you could even buy that bar anymore. For that price (the reward for that company keeping them in their warehouse for two decades!), I...
