    Judging question

It is my understanding that there are typically 6 judges at each table (hence turning in 6 pieces). What happens if the number of teams is not a factor of 6? Do you have an odd number table? What do you do about scoring? Thanks!

    Rate My Box

Is there anything wrong with trimming after it is cooked or will that get you a lower appearance score?

    Wobbly legs

I just bought an older (EZ) one touch silver. It is pretty wobbly on the legs. Is there anything that people are doing to tighten this up?

    How much charcoal?

If I fill up my charcoal ring (it takes about 20#) and dump a half a chimney of lit on top it will go about 12-14 hours without touching it. This is with a clay saucer instead of water. It does produce a lot of ash, but I have never had it affect the fire.

BBQ Competition in Morton, IL 8/5-8/6/11

Jeremy, Thanks! I will keep an eye out for it. You will be allowed to have adult beverages at your cooking area if you are careful about it. Please use cups and don't overdo it. I was told the police will look the other way as long as it doesn't get out of hand. This is pretty common procedure...

    Competition Canopies

I'm sure every county across the country is a little different but I can say without a doubt that our health department does not require a special type of canopy to sell food to the public. You do have to have a canopy so the food is covered, but a standard canopy is fine. They are more...

How to weigh down a canopy

That works pretty well, I know several people that use that method. I made my own weights out of 4" PVC pipe filled with concrete. They weigh about the same as a 5 gal bucket of water but they have much smaller footprint so they are not a trip hazard. They work pretty well.
