How do I care for my cast iron grates?

I give them a light brushing with peanut oil after they are preheated. After cooking I brush them off with a stainless steel grill brush, and then after I've eaten dinner and head out to clean up the grill, etc. I give them another light brushing with peanut oil. I keep the vents open on the...

    Frustrated with CIGs

Actually, I read what I wrote above and was like - that's an awful lot of bother. Now I just let them preheat for 10 minutes, lightly oil with peanut oil while keeping grates on, brush them off when I'm done, lightly oil after I've eaten and am putting the grill away. Laura

    Your favorite Craycort Inserts?

Good to know you do like them! Since I wrote this some unexpected bills have come my way, so I need to pay them off before buying any more toys, unfortunately. I know sometimes Craycort has a Father's Day one day sale, maybe I can catch some grates then. Thanks for letting me know - Laura

Reasonable place to buy meat in San Francisco/Bay Area?

Great - thanks everyone! I will definitely consider a Costco membership - I think you can have a freebie day where you go in and browse to help you make up your mind whether you are going to buy the membership card or not. There's one in SF, I'll check it out. Laura

Reasonable place to buy meat in San Francisco/Bay Area?

Hello Everyone - I did a search on this and now can't find the thread I found before. I am looking for a good place to buy meat in San Francisco or just outside of SF. I already have places I enjoy - Whole Foods and Guerra's and Lucky's, depending on what they have on sale and what's good...

Best way to do multiple ribs on a 22.5 kettle?

Hello Everyone - I just did St. Louis spareribs recently for the first time and they were such a hit that my friends are clamoring to come over and eat some. I'm going to make them again but I am wondering what is the best way to do multiple ribs. I have a Weber Rib rack, but I hear that it...

New 2013 Weber Jumbo Joe Black

I'd love to know how anyone is enjoying theirs! I have 4 grills, can't really get another right now . . . but I sure am tempted. :) Also in some places I see they are 18 inch grates, others 18.5 (I see more 18.5, so I am guessing that it is actual size). Wondering if anyone is also going to...

Grilling over wood chunks? Any tips?

Hey Everyone - so I know it isn't the same but I grilled steaks and vegetables over the Lazzari Mesquite hardwood lumps. Very subtle flavor. Still going to have to try the mesquite wood chunks I think to measure the difference. But it was delicious, at any rate. Laura
