    First Pork Butt/BBQ

Thanks all, it is going well (so far!) and I'm having a great time. It is a 4 pound bone in pork butt so by the time we eat it'll have 2 pounds-ish or so of meat to eat. Right now it is 142 degrees and I'm reading up on what to do if "the stall" happens. It smells delicious so far, can't wait...

    First Pork Butt/BBQ

Thank you! Now I'm changing my mind, then I'll put the briquettes on one side. Still deciding on Kingsford or Stubbs (bought Stubbs for grilling and Kingsford for lower temp cooks). I'm like a kid on Christmas Eve, excited to try my first BBQ tomorrow. Looking forward to it! Happy 4th...

Non reactive roasting pan that doesn't break the bank?

I bought a couple of stainless steel hotel pans. I'm seasoning them in the oven right now and I'll try them out and let you know. Happy 4th, everybody! Laura

    First Pork Butt/BBQ

It looks wonderful! I just got my pork butt from the butcher, and I figure if I need to I can foil and finish in the oven. I'm going to start early in case things take a while, but do you have any advice for if the pork is done before my friends arrive to eat? Pull it, put in pan, foil...

    First Pork Butt/BBQ

Hello Everyone - I'm getting ready to do my first BBQ tomorrow for the 4th. I'm going to do a North Carolina style pulled pork recipe I got from a Stephen Raichlen grilling book - looks delicious. I'm only cooking for me and two friends tomorrow and I'm starting small so I'm just going to get...

Non reactive roasting pan that doesn't break the bank?

Stainless steel is great! Just when you put the words "nonreactive" in front of it it suddenly becomes super expensive (a $150 pan???) and people were offering more reasonably priced options. I look forward to picking up a stainless steel hotel pan for $8 at least for now and trying that out...

Non reactive roasting pan that doesn't break the bank?

I went for a walk after posting this and happened onto a restaurant supply store - they had those stainless steel hotel pans, only $8. I can buy one and check it out - I plan only to use them for warming/keeping warm, not searing at 550, so I am guessing they will be fine. Thanks again - Laura

Thanks all - I'll check these things out! Laura

Non reactive roasting pan that doesn't break the bank?

Okay, when I google "Stainless Steel" instead of "Nonreactive" I get many more reasonable options pricewise. Still interested if anybody has found anything they like (or alternatives). Laura

Non reactive roasting pan that doesn't break the bank?

Hello Everyone - It's me, Laura. I am going to do a very small 2 pound Pork Butt North Carolina Pulled Pork recipe (from Stephen Raichlen's BBQ Bible book). It says at the end to put the shredded pork into a nonreactive roasting pan with this delicious sounding vinegar sauce, cover with...

Opening bags of charcoal? Help Please

I end up whipping out one of my huge grilling spatulas that has a serrated edge and sawing the edge of the bag while yelling like a cavewoman. I can never figure out the string; makes me feel dumb so I just have at it. If you find the answer, I'd love to know too. Although my way is pretty...

Craycort Grates arrived for WGA! Link to pics.

They're great, Shaun! I know you will enjoy them when you get them. I was steak'd out from grilling delicious steak the two days previous so for my first cook I did salmon, red snapper, vegetables, garlic bread. Delicious. I love those cast iron grates. Laura

    Thermapen cleaning?

I got advice on my other Thermapen thread from Kevin to get alcohol swabs, individually wrapped and used to wipe the skin prior to an injection or a finger stick (diabetics). Works great, easy, no worries. Thank you - Laura

    Thank you Jamie Purviance

Nice! Yes when I bought the sear grate I was thinking I'd get the griddle and the wok. Then a friend bought me a griddle (not part of the sear system) and I found a cute little wok I can use with most of my grills so I have decided not to buy anything else just yet. Although that pizza stone...

4 Hr Pulled Pork on the Mini

Thank you - cook both smaller pieces at the same time? Pork pork pork, yum. My biggest worry is keeping those temps under control for that length. I'm a good griller, can grill for a while at different temperatures (medium heat for veggies, ramp up to searing for steaks, etc.). I'm feeling a...

I tried the same recipe for a party, and on my Weber sear grate too! Huge hit, I love that recipe. Looks wonderful. How do you like your Weber sear grate? Laura
