    Smoking on the Gasser

I smoked pork chops on the Vieluxe for a couple hours around 120-150f using only the smoker burner then increased temp with a main burner until internal temp got over 140f Then seared on wsk with vortex clone - lots of smoke flavor (sorry forgot to take additional pics of finished product)

    2 rotisserie chickens on Vieluxe

By the time thighs hit 160f the breasts were already over 180 They finished much darker than the pic shown but I was unable to get a good shot because it was after sunset Both birds weighed 8lb total - I didn’t recall how much each weighed though - it was a two pack I used Turbo Trusser - I...

    2 rotisserie chickens on Vieluxe

The breast got up to temp faster than thighs with the IR burner on and outside burners on low. Next time I’ll try butt to butt to try to even out the heating. Also, I only marinated for 5 hr and the flavor didn’t penetrate well. I assumed the sauce with egg would stick better during basting...

    2 rotisserie chickens on Vieluxe

Ok - so I’m going to try spinning 2 whole Cornell chickens on the vieluxe Any recommendations on setup? I was thinking smoker burner with oak chunks on low (far left) - far right main burner on low - rotisserie IR on low I guess it would be most similar to a Summit S470 as far as layout and I...

Anyone tried this on a rotisserie? Or take a guess at how it would turn out?

    Thermoworks Big Reveal Tomorrow

Seems like they are using capacitors rather than regular rechargeable batteries. Fast recharge capable but will probably self discharge quickly when not in use. Not a big deal in this case since it only needs 10min charge for up to 50hr use. Hopefully they use standard wall warts or...

Summit Platinum D6 burner orifice size.

https://virtualwebergasgrill.com/2017/05/cleaning-lubricating-weber-gas-grill-valves/ I used caliper lube recently on my Vieluxe but just pulled apart a Summit valve that was still buttery smooth - don’t remember what I used at the time but was totally clear - probably Sil-Glide or similar...

    This Old (New?) Grill

How about using Sanyo Eneloop AA NiMH batteries with an AA to C adapter? They are low self discharge (LSD) and have about 2000mah capacity - should be plenty with LED bulbs Also much easier to find a charger for NiMH than lithium

    Vielux 56" major overhaul

I pulled a valve off the Summit - it is completely different internally than Vieluxe even though similar btu with n-s burner layout Summit has round holes and Vieluxe has slots/channels in the plug The bonnet may fit but Summit has indexing for off-high-med-low whereas V has just off and high...

    Vielux 56" major overhaul

Got it I’ll try to pull apart a Summit valve and compare to Vieluxe later today - not sure it would be much easier to source one of those though. If they match, maybe someone like Jon Tofte could compare between OG Summit and Genesis But if it’s just aesthetic and you can still properly secure...

    Vielux 56" major overhaul

What is wrong with the valve that you would need to replace it? I just cleaned and lubricated all the valves on my new to me 44 Vieluxe and everything seems to work properly now with smooth modulation from low to high - the initial problem was sticking when pushing valves in I did not do a...

    N.G grill used for sale

OG Summit 650 I’m the original owner of a Summit 450 that I'm getting ready to repair https://tvwbb.com/docs/1998-weber-summit-4pagead.pdf Jon Tofte is the expert on these - see this thread on his rehab Thread '2nd Chance for a True Weber Classic: A 1998 1st Generation Summit 450'...

    Vieluxe 44 Restoration

Dave Santana was able to weld new tabs onto my original Vieluxe burners and also fabricated the flavorizer bar hangers I got sloppy with the measurements for the hangers and had to tweak the new bars with a vise to fit - my fault entirely I figured out the burner that kept going out on...

    Vieluxe 44 Restoration

The burners with slots are from my Summit 450 - I’m using them temporarily to get the grill operational I stupidly broke the tabs off of two original burners (see details above) the Vieluxe burners are 40% heavier than Summit and made with an 18SR alloy so Dave is going to try to come up with a...

    Vieluxe 44 Restoration

Back to Vieluxe restoration… I made my way down to visit the great Dave Santana (aka rcplanebuyer) to pickup some flavorizer bars and smoke diffusers. He has a binder full of drawings for Weber (and Vieluxe) replacement parts. He inspected my original burners and agreed that they are worth...
