So I drove an electric car

To master one pedal driving you have to avoid driving any other cars until your mind adjusts. I read that human performance studies show one pedal driving to ultimately be more intuitive but you must stick with it until you feel comfortable. I crossed the rubicon and now much prefer one pedal...

    Weber #9930 Grates

Josh What is the diameter of the temp gauge? I’m looking for something exactly 3.0” OD for my Vieluxe - I bought a 3” Tel-tru but it’s actually larger than the bezel Thanks Ray

    Pork shops and peaches

Is there any reliable way of telling whether the peach is freestone? Most markets don’t list the variety - I got a batch of clings and couldn’t grill them

So I drove an electric car

I tried the ole “pulse and glide” technique with my 06 Prius - it definitely works but takes a toll on your sanity and aggravates other drivers I got 54mpg lifetime average over 275k miles by driving the speed limit, looking ahead to smartly time stoplights and braking moderately to maximize...

So I drove an electric car

I get by with 240v 16a Overnight charging gives much more flexibility 120v charging on Tesla only gets 70% efficiency for some reason 240v is always around 95% Also try to keep charge between 20% and 80% for battery cycle longevity - I actually run mine at 70% unless needed for a trip

    Vieluxe 44 Restoration

From a usability standpoint: The upper shelf is awesome and folds out for a huge indirect area The grease collection is actually an 8” pot - superior to the smallish disposable pans on the summit The two side burners are 14kbtu - are much more robust and make the single Summit side burner feel...

So I drove an electric car

Sounds like you are making a thorough assessment. Maybe the used BEV market will be even worse at lease end and you get an even better deal. Not sure who is eligible for rebates right now but don’t forget to consider that I know people with Hyundai/Kia and Mach-E and they are very happy too...

    Vieluxe 44 Restoration

It feels like it runs hotter - may be due to more overall thermal mass - the grates are exactly the same (but without hinged access to summit smoker accessory) The valve plugs are different - summit (pic shown) has distinct ports whereas Vieluxe has slots (no pic) - not sure if it modulates...

    Vieluxe 44 Restoration

Duh- I didn’t realize you guys were talking about a $200 listing in the curb alert thread Here are my thoughts on both listings: No one lists whether LP or NG Both thermometers are obviously more “off” than mine showing ambient at about 2 o’clock (mine shows 5 o’clock and is 150f low) Both 6...

So I drove an electric car

I get it - both Priuses drove exactly like regular Toyotas whether in hybrid or EV mode and had similar “compression braking” feel when off pedal. The controls were laid out more or less the same on the steering wheel as Toyota and Lexus (I also own a 2000 Lexus Lx470) The point I was trying...

So I drove an electric car

I don’t know if you’re familiar with Toyota’s stance on BEV, but they have been fighting the push towards all electric and lobbied extensively against the federal push/quotas. They resisted not because they are dominant in hybrids, but because they truly believed that an abrupt shift to BEVs...

    Vieluxe 44 Restoration

So I really never liked the look of the oem igniter switches and decided to retrofit a lower profile switch. The switch fits and I have to swap the electronics module - perhaps even the electrodes if I can figure out some mounting solution. Here is what I got (only $12): Limited-time deal...

Bay Area kitchen/restaurant supply store recommendations

There is a Business Costco in Hayward (closest to Danville) - the selection is much less than they used to carry, but if they have it, you will not find it cheaper anywhere Another advantage of Business Costco is that they have real-time inventory of that location. Prices are listed as...

    Full chicken wings

Brett - is that sear grate the Weber porcelain coated model? How do you keep it from rusting other than leaving the grease buildup? I might have switched to the original SS insert since searing was not really needed with wings…

Help with replacement S.S. grates and flavorizer bars

Well, I’m still running with the original Weber flavorizer bars on my OG Summit 450 - and I’ve gone through about 3 sets of burners over those 20ish years The Weber bars are 18ga and noticeably lighter than Dave Santana’s bars @16ga that he fabricated for my Vieluxe I think the difference is...
