    Post your live HeaterMeter Cooks

Getting ready to throw on a 2.5 pound chuck roast with a few chunks of oak. Into the Dutch oven with braising liquid at 160. http://darren78.homeip.net:8081/luci Edit: Looks like the temps ran away from me. Oh well, riding it out.

    Calculating Probe Coefficients

I downloaded it from here: http://capnbry.net/~bmayland/fi/bbq/AN2395.zip As a follow up to my last post... I have done some more testing with the coefficients calculated using the 3-point approach and felt comfortable enough that I smoked a brisket over the weekend using those coefficients. I...

    Post your live HeaterMeter Cooks

14 pound packer brisket. Dome temp was running a little high at 270 so I dropped the grate temp just a bit. Might have to bump it up again depending on how long it stalls for. http://darren78.homeip.net:8081/luci

    Calculating Probe Coefficients

Steve would you mind explaining the issue with accuracy based on the three reference points as described? Mike says that after doing the calculations he is within 1 degree from his reference points, so it seems that there's some validity to the approach. Is the issue that outside of those...

Pit Meter - iPhone app for the HeaterMeter

I agree with you Joel. I actually meant to address your suggestion and then forgot about it. I was thinking of having some sort of info link on the main connection/login screen that is put up when you first launch the app. A question for everyone using the app... I see a bunch of device...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Seems steep on first glance, so I checked what I paid back in July. Looks like the main difference is that you got a 3rd probe and the Auber blower. I wonder if some of the parts have also gone up at Mouser and Digikey? Anyways, just a counterpoint that it can still can be cheaper than some...

You can now download the Pit Meter iPhone app from the App Store. If you like it, please take a few minutes to rate it. If not, come back here and let me know why. Give me a chance to help you out. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pit-meter/id737047723?ls=1&mt=8 Oh yeah, Happy Thanksgiving...

Pit Meter - iPhone app for the HeaterMeter

Last night I recompiled the latest beta as v1.0 and submitted it to the app store for review. Recent experience has been that it takes them about 1 week to complete the review process. I'm hoping that they find the demo feature sufficient for review because obviously Apple doesn't have...

Pit Meter - iPhone app for the HeaterMeter

That's odd. I updated the build on testflight with your old device ID's but I doubt that would do anything. I can see that your device is registered and the testflight portal recognizes it as enabled in the profile. I'm not super familiar with testflight. I would say do what you're already...

    LinkMeter v10 Release

Hey Bryan, has the v10 release changed the event sequence from /lm/stream? What I'm seeing is that the "alarm" event is only sent once right when the alarm goes off. If you setup a connection to /lm/stream when the alarm is already ringing then you miss the event. I thought I had verified...

Pit Meter - iPhone app for the HeaterMeter

Thanks for the feedback Phillip. I can verify the same thing with the alarm. For the alarm silence to work, the app has to actually be aware that the alarm went off. Streaming has to be on for this to work. What I'm seeing is that the "alarm" event only comes once. If the app is in the...

Pit Meter - iPhone app for the HeaterMeter

Hey guys, my apologies for being MIA. Work has been crazy busy and I was in San Jose for the past week. I'd like to submit the app soon, and actually had a target date of Thanksgiving myself to be in the app store. I'm not sure that will happen because It means that I have to submit this...

    3D Printed Barrel Servo/Fan

Did you find that to be the case even with your fan + damper? I'm using a fan only with a flapper as a damper, no servo. It's not super air tight but I can close the top vent about halfway on my BGE like Tom. I have been curious to know how moving to a servo could help. I'm under the...

    The Development Log

That's pretty much what I meant by the breakout cable comment. You either need to make up a breakout cable, a remote box, or cut off probe jacks. None seem too desirable for me, but that's just one guys' opinion. What's the payback, that I get to keep my heatermeter in the breezeway? Would...

    The Development Log

Keep individual jacks at the case. I think it would be tough to make a clean breakout cable, and I wouldn't want to be cutting off probe plugs. Plus no one seems to have picked up on Ralph's issue with interference.
