    Thermoelectric coolers. Legal for competition?

Russ, I don't think there would be any problems about using hot water to preheat the inside of the cooler. You wouldn't be leaving the water in the cooler when you put the meat in, so you'd be fine.

    Thermoelectric coolers. Legal for competition?

John, I would think that would be against KCBS rules to put the meat in the cooler if it is plugged in. If it isn't plugged in, then no problem. You could even plug it in to get it warm. But unplug it before meat is put into the cooler. This is similar to using a propane assist burner to get...

    5 versus 10 cfm

You also have the possibility of more ash being blown around in the smoker when you use the larger CFM fan.

    Checking wireless signal

I use a bridge to connect my Stoker to my home network and then run StokerLog on a laptop that is connected to my network via wireless. But the wireless connection for the Stoker wasn't very stable when using the bridge. I found this great little free program that I used to check the wireless...

    Stoker Enclosure

Fr@nk, I use a 25' stereo headphone cable from Radio Shack for the 5cfm fan I use. I not had any problems in the 3 or so years I've been using this setup. I don't have the fan on the same extension cable as my probes though -- that causes false readings on the probes when the fan is running.

Associating probes with blower on Stoker

Or, you can do it the old fashioned way and make the association from the Stoker box itself. Using the buttons on the front, look at the LED display and find the probe you want to associate, select it, then when you get to "blower", make the association to the blower that Stoker finds. You can...

List of confirmed WGAs that plug n' play with Stoker?

I use a D-Link DWL-G730AP set in Client mode (switch on the bottom of the unit) to be a wireless bridge to connect to my main Linksys network.

Need Help Clarifying Wireless set-up Design

Tim - I have the same configuration at home and at comps that you are talking about. At home, I use a wireless bridge to put the Stoker on my home network. At comps, I use a wireless router to connect the Stoker to my laptop. Most comps won't have an internet access or if it does, it is not...

    Storker/Linksys Birdge Help

I don't think the issue is whether the wireless bridge will work with the Stoker (any of them will). I think the issue is how easy is it to connect the wireless bridge to your current network. If you stay with equipment from the same company, connection is much easier. Here is the one I picked...

    Storker/Linksys Birdge Help

I use a wireless router at comps and that's I used to use at home (till I got the wireless bridge). My wife is my teammate for our comp team. We now have a travel trailer we use at comps (after the first time I made her stay in the tent with me at comp). So I keep the laptop in the trailer and...

Stoker Log - Alarm Settings Issue

I think if you want the Stokerlog "alarms", set the alarms but don't "update stoker". I believe (and Amir can confirm this), but by just setting the alarms in Stokerlog, you'll only get the alarm in on the computer. If you set the alarm on the Stoker (by doing the "update stoker"), you'll also...

    Storker/Linksys Birdge Help

Hi Tim, congrats on the coming Stoker -- you'll love it. But it sounds like you are going to try to connect from your laptop to the wireless bridge. I know enough to be dangerous but I have successfully set up a wireless router then moved to a wireless bridge. But from my experience, a...

    Extension Cables for Stoker

I use a 20' extension for my fan. But just make sure the extension for the fan is not on a splitter that also has the pit/meat probes. The fan needs to be on a dedicated cable/extension from the Stoker to the fan. Make sure the headphone cables you are using are stereo cables and not mono. I...

    Wireless Connection for a Stoker

If you are talking about accessing your Stokerlog while you are on a different network (i.e. logging onto the internet from work), then that will take other configuration. The D-Link wireless bridge allows the Stoker to be on your network -- that you can access while you are on your network. If...

    Wireless Connection for a Stoker

I think that is the same wireless bridge I bought. No, it doesn't work right out of the box. You'll need to connect it directly to your current router and go through the setup so it can connect to your main network. The only thing I have problems with using this bridge is if I go out to the...
