    Performer

Wow!! Say goodbye to the OTG! The Performer is great. Gas light worked great....no more starter cubes! I really enjoyed the work table..no more using the deck railing as a work table!! Looks like my brother will inherit a well used (and cared for) OTG! Thanks again for everyone's input.

    Performer

Thanks everyone. I picked up my black performer last night and put it together in about 45 minutes or so. Looks great....test run tomorrow. My only complaint was there was no free cover like came with the WSM. I called and joked around with Melissa at Weber.....but to no avail. Had to pay for...

Hey guys and gals, I'm considering getting a Performer to replace my OTG. One question......does a Weber chimney work well with the gas starter? It looks like the chimney my not fit flat on the grate? Thanks for any feedback!!

    ET-73

I have the 6' wires; they work great. I run them thru the eyelet, not the vent. Haven't had any problems with them yet. I didn't get them for the high heat, I like the extra length.

    Maverick et-73 mod

Don, Go to their website....maverickhousewares.com Look under "Parts" and find the link for "digital thermometer parts". It's a PDF order form; it will show the 6' probes. These are only meat probes however...I use them with my ET-7 when I smoke 4 butts at a time. They mave have a 6' smoker...

    Maverick et-73 mod

I must be lucky. I have had no trouble with my ET-7 or my ET-73. Range has been good and never had a probe short out. Also have the new 6' probes and haven't had any problems with them either. I'm knocking on a wood chunk as I type!!!

    Maple smoke wood?

Has anyone tried wood chunks from North Woods Smoke besides me? They sell oak, maple, alder, cherry, mesqite and other stuff as well. The prices are great.....$8.95/5lb bags and free shipping for an order of $25 or more. There chunks look like they come from a furniture manufacturer or something...

where to eat in st louis?

17th Street Bar and Grill is just okay. Pulled pork has a lot to be desired. Ribs are okay....just pricey. Rick had the right idea; Super Smokers is very good and award winning. Jason....say hi next time you're in town!!

    overpaying for Butts

Here is southwestern IL (15 miles from St. Louis) I regularly pay $1.39/lb for bone-in butts from my local butcher shop. No additives of any kind. I was told the meat comes from Indiana. It's always good.
