    What you got on...your mind

I rarely have more than $6 in my wallet - luckily they take Discover. I can sometimes get out of Sam's at about $75. My wife wanted me to drop by the other day and pick up some bacon. Is it possible to drop by and only pick up one item?

    Water pan cleaning

I will now unveil one of my most essential barbecue tools: The pressure washer. Behold its power and efficiency . Usable year round in our mild Tennessee climate. Makes quick work of barbecue grates and water pans. To know it is to love it. Don't walk, RUN to your favorite home store and...

Smoking in 100 + degree heat

If it gets much hotter I will have to put ice in the cooker instead of charcoal. The other day I was looking at the weather, though, and I was glad that I didn't live in a really hot climate like North Dakota or Minneapolis. How do you people survive up there?

    mesquite charcoal

It's been a while since I used the Kingsford stuff, but I don't remember being overwhelmed by mesquite flavor. I haven't used this product for smoking, but I get a really nice flavor when grilling from Blackwood Canyon Mesquite lump.

My Do's and Don't of Winter Cooking

Ray - there is no coal mining here in the vicinity of the Scenic City. Miners have been replaced by tourists and outdoorsman, I think.

    Brisket with pics if interested.

Rick, When I got all through your pictures, the Kodak Photoshare folks showed me how I could get a coffee mug with one of your photos on it. The example they showed was photo 1 - a big raw meat brisket. It's too late for Valentine's Day, but you might think about getting some raw brisket mugs...

My Do's and Don't of Winter Cooking

Ray, Every time (Every time!!) there is a flurry here people talk about the snow of '93 when we got 18" here. That was the last time there was a decent snow down here in the valley that I am aware of. You are correct about pockets of civilization - I live right on the edge where if you go...

My Do's and Don't of Winter Cooking

Snow? What snow? We don't have no stinkin' snow down here in the civilized part of the country?

Tips for buying a whole hog?

You talk about going whole hog! A guy has a couple of freezers and the next thing you know he is filling it with man's 2nd best friend (pig). My only advice is to not give it a name after you pick it out. The meat might not ever taste quite right if you do.
