    New to the Stoker

I can't speak to WPA. I use WEP. IMO, it's hardly unlikely that your neighbors have the know how and hardware resources to decrypt WEP and play around with your network. -rob

Help accessing Stoker from outside of LAN

A couple of things - 1)for now, forget about DYNDNS and use only IP. 2)Make sure you are using the WAN IP address of your router. Log into the router and find this address. 3)Attach a PC to the Router and go to http://www.whatismyip.com/ Is the IP address you got from the router the same as...

    New to the Stoker

A Linksys WGA54G does what I need it to do. You can configure it Infrastructure (connected to your LAN) or Ad-Hoc (point to point) at a contest. Best of all, they're pretty cheap to find used on eBay. -rob

Help accessing Stoker from outside of LAN

Well that sucks. I seem to remember reading that the newer routers lacked the amount of memory of the older ones. Probably due to refractoring the firmware. I would try getting an older WRT54G off eBay and while you're at it sell the one you have. Good luck -rob

Help accessing Stoker from outside of LAN

Mark, I could create a video on how to do this but since my router is running DD-WRT it would be of no value to you. This is more of a network task then a Stoker issue. In fact, you could set this up without a stoker by running IIS on your XP machine and pretend the XP machine is a Stoker...

Help accessing Stoker from outside of LAN

If "port triggering" is actually port mapping then it will work. However, you'll still need to setup IP forwarding as well. I flashed my WRT54G with DD-WRT and it has 1 setting that does both port mapping and IP forwarding in 1 screen. The other thing that needs to be done is IP reservation...

    OVERWHELMED ideas & help PLEASE

You can setup all the network stuff with just the stoker box ~ you don't need probes/blowers. Brad is right. As long as the iPhone and Stoker are on the same network you don't need to worry about port forwarding. However, If you want to access it over the internet you must use IP forwarding...

Help accessing Stoker from outside of LAN

OK, I got it working. It had something to do with the bridge/gaming adapter. I've been fiddling with it lately. Seems you need to cycle the power after you change anything.

Help accessing Stoker from outside of LAN

Curt, that's the first think I tried. When I do that then reboot the stoker and look at the IP address which should have been set via DHCP it reads 000.000.000.000

    Stoker Setup Video FAQ

Greetings, As you may have seen in other threads on this forum, i have created a series of YouTube videos that describe setting up and operating the Stoker in various configurations. I hope to get 1 more in (accessing it over the internet). Anyway, here are the videos: HowTo Calibrate...

Steve, I'll try to do a video about accessing the Stoker over the internet. It might require 2 videos as Youtube has a 10 minute limit on videos. -rob

    Sensor Calibration

I found out I had to reset mine as they weren't set from the factory. If you have a new unit there should be a paper included that has your offset values for each probe. I lost mine so i used the boiling water technique. That is, put the probe in boiling water and adjust the offset values until...

    Stoker vs Guru

There are no real issues with the Stoker other than customer service. The main issues are people who are not computer savvy trying to set up a wireless connection to it. To run a CyberQ II over a wireless network you need 3 devices: 1)A computer connected to it via USB running remote software...

Need Help Clarifying Wireless set-up Design

I do the same thing Steve does. I had a spare Linksys WRT54G kicking around that I use for comps. Just set it up with security and a unique network name and hook the stoker up to it. I'm able to monitor/control the cook from inside my trailer. It's basically a 2 node network. -rob
