    Can’t get passed go

Steve, A bridge doesn't have a DHCP server so you'll need to assign static IP addresses on both the stoker and the laptop. Pat and I hammered this out here: Stoker Setup with just a WiFi bridge -rob

Stoker on WSM: thoughts on leaving other 2 vents cracked open?

The stoker's algorithyms are based on the assumption that it's a closed system. If you are providing airflow when there shouldn't be (it's too hot) you are bound to get greater temperature swings and less control. -rob

Customer response times from Rocks, well they rock.

Well then, maybe I'll pitch our team to be a sponsor. we do at least 10 comps a year and 6 of those are with his main competitor onsite. -rob

Customer response times from Rocks, well they rock.

I think John has finally hired a new guy for customer service. I shipped a bad probe in a few weeks back and got a new one within a week. When I called to ask if I needed a RMA I got an answer on the first ring and it wasn't John. This leads me to believe it's no longer a 1 man operation. With...

R.L. The new K blend "Competition" runs hot and burns a little faster. With a 10 CFM blower you shouldn't have any problem other than making sure there's enough fuel. The way I use my WSM (when not in a comp) is to fill a Weber chimney like so: 1 layer of K, then fist size chunk of hickory...

Well.... The manual says to ENABLE ramp mode you turn the unit on with the meat probe set to anything but "OFF". If I follow that logic then to DISABLE ramp mode you would turn the unit on with the meat probe turned fully counter clockwise (or off). There is no manual for the Guru Competitor...

Ed, How do you enable/disable ramp mode on a Guru Competitor? Not that I use mine much but it's nice to know. -rob

    New to the Stoker Family

I think the WRT54g should work as long as you configure in bridge mode.

    New to the Stoker Family

John has been pretty good at getting the orders out. I sent in a bad probe in and got a new one a week later. Now I'm all set for the season. -rob

Wireless Access Point as Wireless Bridge

I don't think you can use a WAP11 as a bridge. The manual says you can use it as an access point or a repeater: WAP11 Manual An access point is a device that turns a wired network into a wireless network. That is, the Ethernet port on the back is hooked up to your existing WIRED LAN. The...

New to Stoker....some questions.....long boot up time?

Keith, Thanks for troubleshooting the logic. Dang! I'll need to update the video! I will PM you but as a preface let me say that when I cook at the comps I use 2 pits. The first is a Caldera Tallboy (from BBQ Guru) which is used for butts/brisket and runs at 250. I use the 18 inch WSM for...

Help accessing Stoker from outside of LAN

Ed, Sounds like a browser issue. Can the BB run a different browser? If so, I'd try that. rob

    Stokerlog / Computers

You can run StokerLog on multiple computers at the same time. HOWEVER, only 1 computer can have the HTTP Only box UNCHECKED. This is because only 1 computer can login to it via Telnet. All the other instances of the program must use HTTP only. Not sure what you mean by "search". StokerLog has a...

New to Stoker....some questions.....long boot up time?

Firmware seems most likely the issue. Get the latest non-beta. About the food probe setting - That's a good question. You saw how it worked in the video - It shut the fan down when it reached target. In practice though I never use targets on food probes except on the rare event that I won't be...

    WGA54g problems

Did you figure it out yet? There are 2 ways to configure it. You can use onboard web server or the setup disk. Make sure the switch is set to Infrastructure. -rob

    Seasoning your pit.

Harry, You make a good point. I would imagine this applies to any pit. Let's say you did foul up your pit. What would you recommend as a degreaser to start fresh? Also, I stripped down my main pit last year to bare metal (not a WSM) and repainted/re-seasoned it. I finished strong in the first...

Cooking on both grates in a WSM...

Harry, Are you using rib racks or not? We use the 18 1/2 inch WSM for ribs at a comp. We start with 4 slabs which I trim to St. Louis cut. From there I take the ends off leaving the mid 8 or 9 bones per rack. These then get rubbed and placed on a rib rack - all 4 on the top grate. If you are...

    Ordered my Stoker Today!

The router configuration settings are for inbound connections only. The email function of StokerLog is an outbound connection so you shouldn't need to setup any firewall rules for that. I've never used it but I think all you need is the SMTP server for your ISP as well as password and userID...
