Campaign to Promote Grill Decency *****

Of course I pass the stuff out, mostly to friends who can take the joke. Usually, they see me using the same grills year after year, while theirs are already falling apart, and they see the light. Hell, my dad even bought a Genesis Silver C.

Campaign to Promote Grill Decency *****

They just sent it. I "applied" last summer, and the first kit showed up several months later. I had forgotten all about it. Then, they sent a second one around Memorial Day. I guess they figured I used up all the cards and door hangers.

    First pork butts

Gee, my wife is VERY supportive of my hobby. I think she just likes the food though. This thread is great. Personally, my butt's holding around 175, along with a very small brisket point. I've haven't done a brisket yet, so it's an experiment.

Campaign to Promote Grill Decency *****

A silicone brush? Yeah, I got one in my kit last fall. Then, Weber sent me a 2nd kit this spring, only no free gift this time. Those brushes come in handy too. Nice long handle for saucing up the meat at the end of a cook without burning your hands.

Just ordered my C&B Green Performer

I like that! To me, it looks avocado-green, kind of that 1960's retro-hip. Too bad the truck just needed new tie-rods. Maybe next year they'll do a baby blue.

Q 220 - Cook Time With Disposible Cylinder?

Ed- Generally, I get about 3 cooks out of a 14 oz bottle, 4 if they're quick, so 1.5 hours seems right. Count me in as jealous of your red-top, they didn't have 'em last year when I was looking. For the 16 oz bottles, remove the top screw from the bottle bracket and bend it up and out a bit...

    Butt or shoulder

Generally, you can pick bone-in or boneless. I like 'em with the bone. A lot of places up here in Minny seem to use "shoulder" and "butt" interchangeably, just to add to the confusion. Too many old scandinavians mixing up butts and rump roasts, I guess.

E320 porcelain enameled cast iron grill

Weber switched to a different type of porcelain coating. It has more of a flat finish, but I believe it's supposed to be longer lasting. Those shiny grates start to flake off into your food after a while. Think peeling paint. The grate on my Q is the same way. I just cook on it, then during...

    Butt or shoulder

Generally, it's the same thing. "Butts" are shoulders, and "picnics" are lower shoulder/ upper forearm. I like butts! (sorry, lack of sleep)

Mystery Weber Kettle - Someone please ID this grill!

Ahh, CL "weber's" Anything kettle shaped is a weber, right? I was given a smaller version of this grill a few years ago by someone after mentioning I was looking for a smokey joe - they honestly believed it was a weber, cause it's a kettle. The best though was a char-broil patiomate gas grill...

    Best Grill for <$1,000

Richard - not really. The "EP's" (P for premium) do come with stainless grates and bars, but you can always upgrade to stainless flavorizer bars or grates when it comes time to replace them. Personally, I'd likely keep the cast iron grates.

Table or Cart for the Kettle

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Originally posted by george curtis: performer cover?? </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Sure. Also, I saw a "Grill with Worktable" cover at the local garden center / Weber dealer. It...

E-320 from 5 star dealer or big box?

Yes, the P in EP-320 is for premium. Last year when I was looking, the premium version was only $50 more than the big box model, both at ACE and at a high-end garden center. That could have changed, but $200 extra seems high

    Just ordered my "free" Performer

No honey, it's not ANOTHER grill, it's an economic stimulate! I'm just doing my duty as a red blooded American. Hmmmm.... That might just work.

    New Weber Char Q

So it IS coming to America. We were discussing this grill (and other future Webers) a while ago... someone had seen one in Germany. I wonder if they'll bring over the electric Q-140?

How do you light your Weber Chimney?

I usually use the Weber cubes, unless I run out. One cube will work, using two speeds it up a bit.

    Famous Daves BBQ

Famous Dave's started up here in the great white north of Minnesota, so to us, it ain't bad. That being said, it is almost like a theme restaurant. It's good for lunch on those days the wife hauls you out shopping all day, better than "fast food," and most "BBQ" chains.

Upgrading a Silver Kettle to Gold

Let us know how it works. My feeling is that Weber mass produces the kettle bottoms all the same, and just puts the parts in the box for a silver or gold. When they say it can't be done, they might be referring to older kettles before they started paying attention to how the leg sockets are...

    Q models cool down time?

I set mine up on a wooden table at home, so a tailgate should be no problem

    Is this a Weber?

Um.... NO. It has a Weber cover. All gas Webers I've ever seen (until this years) have the "lawn mower" wheels on the one end.
