    Weber Q 220

Will they let you do that? I wonder how much the lid and therm cost? I called about the fold out tables for my old Baby Q since the new Q120 model has them but Weber said they would not allow me to retrofit my Baby Q. The fittings are exactly same from what I could see so I know they would fit...

    Weber Q LP bottles

I agree Paul. If someone made retrofit I'd buy one up in a snap. I haven't tried unscrewing one of the screws on the ring but it would probably work that way although with less support. I've read of others who had to bend the gas attachment in order to get enough clearance for the larger...

    Forschner knives

I just received the knives. I think they are great! The case is not flimsy at all. The chef's knife is the big 10" one and the fillet knife has the flexible blade. This will be perfect for tailgating and camping.

14 piece forschner My latest purchase. I figured it would be good for camping and tailgating.

    Why use a step drill...

The step drill helps to prevent the porcelain from cracking or chipping since the hole begins smaller with that bit. However, you would use a regular bit if you are careful.

Loosening poultry skin - where to start?

Rita, I did a turkey last year for the first time and it came out great with butter under the skin. However, I was aggressive with the skin and I loosened it all the way to the cavity end. What ended up happening was the skin pulled away from the cavity end while cooking and left a bare meat...

    Weber portable 220 silver

Phil, I do go over 700 degrees on the D6. I also don't have to worry about setting off every smoke alarm in the house when making the salmon. However, I used the Q since I was cooking at my friend's office (parking lot.)

    Weber portable 220 silver

Thanks Phil! I guess it I'll have to pick up a gas ring for these occasions. Thanksgiving is coming up so a turkey fryer and gas ring might be on their way soon!

    Weber portable 220 silver

Phil, I did use a combo of EVOO and butter. I also had the fish at room temperature and they were filets and not steaks so they were actually fairly thin. I'm thinking the mass of a cast iron pan along with the factory cast iron grate is just too much for the BTUs of the grill. I'd be...

Looking for a cheap new Smokey Joe Platinum

Rich, I'm going to pick up a new one from an Ace Hardware out here for $40 out the door. They have four in stock. I'm also thinking of picking up a Performer for $220. I might have to find someone to take my Platinum since I'm running out of room.

    Weber portable 220 silver

I tried to make some blackened salmon the other day with a cast iron pan on top of the Q grill. However, I couldn't get the heat high enough to really sear the fish. Has anyone else tried this? I'm wondering if the Q griddle would work any better. The salmon was OK, it just didn't have that...

    Accessories for the Q

A simple way to clean up is the line the aluminum drip pan with foil. That way you can scrape all the gunk down after you cook and it all settle in the foil. Just pull out the drip pan tray and toss the foil after balling it up. Saves on drip pans an keeps the grease secured in the balled up...

    Costco or Sam's Club

Interestingly enough, this months issue of Sam's Club's magazine features BBQ! They interview top teams and BBQ restaurants and many of them say they get their meats and spices from Sam's!

    Costco or Sam's Club

Where I live there is a better selection of meat at Sam's. For example, I can get full packer brisket at Sam's but only the deboned butts at Costco. I've also found that, in general, Sam's is a few cents cheaper. They also have those "Priced for Quick Sale" packages of meat every once in awhile.

    Plat D6 Summit 1st thoughts

Konrad, I concur. I love mine. If you have a small cook you can preheat will all burners then just leave two or three on after that for direct cooking. I haven't had any problems doing one or two steaks that way.
