    The All Encompassing Beer Thread

It's the time of year when St Arnold releases Summer Pils. Man I love that stuff. I still have 10 lbs to lose, so I am going to have to wait a bit on it.

Royal Oak Chef’s Select Hardwood Briquettes

I have a DoitBest a couple exits north of me. I've been in there, but don't recall looking at the charcoal. I'll have to swing by and get some if they carry it. I usually load up on Kingsford Blue from Home Depot during the sals at $0.25 per pound. I wouldn't mind trying something else. I filled...

    Corned beef

My local Kroger has a stack of Boar's Head Corned Beef Briskets for $1.99/lb marked down from $7.99/lb. The ones I loooked at looked like flats. Can I stick a few in the freezer? the price is hard to beat for the quality (love me some Boar's Head) and the price. They are nicely pack in the...

Cornell Chicken and the Fire Department

I grew up in Orleans County and Chicken BBQ was the main attrationon Thursday nights during Fair Week. It's actually a staple of summer food at various fairs, festivals, car shows, etc. I never knew it as Cornell Chicken. It was simply Chicken BBQ. You could get a sauce/marinade that was close...

Good deal on Loin Backs for me this weekend

I was cruising my local Randall's (Safeway) to get some stuff for dinner and saw that they had some Safeway Select Extra Meaty Loin Back Ribs marked at $1.49/lb.I've had more good luck than bad with these, so I grabbed the three packs that were in the case. They are 2.6, 2.8 and 3.1 pounds, so...

    Tried Grilled Bananas?

The wifey likes them and cooks them herself on our Genesis. She slits them, adds some Cinnamon and Sugar and grills them peel side down until the sugar on the top caramelizes. They are one of her favorites.

    Help me order beef ribs..

Randalls (Safeway) usually has them when they have Rib-Eye on sale. I like getting them fresh this way since they have more meat on them. Most of the frozen ones I have seen tend to have a lot of the meat trimmed off already. They usually go for $1.69/lb or so.

Best BBQ Book(s) - What is your "Bible"?

I have several favorites: Paul Kirk's Championship BBQ and his Championship BBQ Sauces and Rubs Weber's Charcoal Grilling

Anyone tried Guy Fieri's new BBQ sauces?

It uses real sugar instead of HFCS, so it has that going for it. I usually make my own from Paul Kirk's little book, so I passed when I saw it.

    Pre-Sliced Beef Back Ribs?

I took my first stab at those back in July and they turned out great. I only put some rub on them and left them on the top rack of my WSM. I did mist them with apple juice during the cook as I did the ribs and chicken I was also cooking. They turned out great. Big bark and the meat was tender as...

What do you use leftover pulled pork in?

Pulled Pork Enchiladas are a favorite here.

Brisket & Butt at the same time?

I've done it before without issue. I also agree with the previous poster to make sure your rub is compatible for both.

    Tri-tip question

The last time I saw tri-tip locally, it was priced at $7.99/lb. My local Sam's can't get it and I am having a heck of a time find a butcher around here.

Scored a good price on Pork Butt

The two big ones came off this smoker sometime around 1:00 today and taste good. They are foiled and sitting in the cooler to get ready for tonight's race.

Scored a good price on Pork Butt

After hitting up Home Depot for another 120 lbs of charcoal, I stopped at Kroger for dinner ingredients. In one of the coolers were several cryopacked pork butts on clearance at $0.89 per pound. The sell by date is tomorrow, so they marked them down from their regular $1.49 sale price. I...

    Portable power

I imagine he referring to the standard noisy generators and not the silent Honda one that you have. He was looking for low cost, which rules out the pricey Honda models.

weber starter chimney grill rusted out

Mine rusted/burned out the bolts that held it together. It just sprung open on me one time as I was dumping the charcoal. I said a few words, had a moment of silence and went and bought a new one. It lasted me seven years.
