    HM protection from rain

I use something similar to the tupperware solution only a bit better. Also use it as a storage box for all my HM parts, probes, etc. Also works nice as a sunshade for hot afternoon cooks in the AZ sun. Sockit Box Video on YouTube

    Probe Holder

Love em. My probes were stored with twist ties, and were prone to kinks and sharp bends. No more! I like Bryan's idea of stacking them.....maybe a drop of super glue.

    Heatermeter Fan Issue..

I am not an expert with the PID settings, and I'm sure others will chime in, but I would try changing the MIN setting from 40 to 0.

Can you add an external antenna to a HM to improve WIFI range

Another option would to be to re-purpose an old router into a wireless bridge. You could then connect the HM to the old router via ethernet cable. Lot's of info on the net can show how to get this done. The old router/access-point would probably outperform most external antenna solutions.

Another Sous Vide Controller Thread (w/pics)

Finally got around to putting the controller box together. I wanted a dual purpose device for both Sous Vide and for Steeping/Mashing grains for Beer Brewing. That said, I needed to provide active cooling to support 15 amp loads. I ended up building a tank, which should last a while. I had most...

how often do you replace smoke temp probes?

Actually, the $13 Auber is also rated at 900F. I have ruined an Auber by cleaning it too aggressively, but at $13 I can ruin 3 more and still be ahead.

Thanks for this link. At 8 bucks a pop, these are awesome oak handles. I don't think the replacement plastic handles are this cheap.

My Jack Daniel's & Maple Syrup Brined Turkey w/Pics

Hats off to LarryR! Did a traditional stuffed oven roasted bird along with this 17lb dizzy drunken bird. Trying this recipe for the 1st time, got a 17lb bird drinking up some Jim Beam. Used the Beam because I had a bottle laying around for ages. The Jack I drink myself. Plan on spinning it tomorrow on the kettle. Was wondering if anybody can actually taste a difference using different Bourbons. I...

Access heater meter remotely from WAN

I knew I shouldn't have said anything..... The point was that port 80 is special in that it is used for router management 1st and foremost. Yes, it should be blocked. Yes, the interface CAN be made to forward it, but usually not by default. Arggg.

Access heater meter remotely from WAN

This would be the easiest way to get it done. Remember, the router itself is listening on port 80 for web management, so any packets on port 80 will be sent to the management process rather than routed.
