Pit Meter - iPhone app for the HeaterMeter

I am also experiencing this bug, except that it causes the app to crash completely when trying to return to the previous screen. Additionally, when navigating to the Advanced LAN page, the only setting currently on the page (Host Name Bypass) is covered up by the page name "Advanced LAN." You...

    PID Tuning

    Answered my own question. http://tvwbb.com/showthread.php?42779-Post-your-HeaterMeter-graphs&p=466141&viewfull=1#post466141

    PID Tuning

Recently Bryan had a post in some thread which really got specific regarding PID tuning and the effects of the parameters. I thought that I had bookmarked the post, but apparently did not. Anyone know which one it is?

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times....

EDIT: I subsequently re-imaged from the web interface with the "Restore Settings" box unchecked. That did the trick. Well, I re-imaged the card, followed the norestore steps in the wiki, but somehow the configuration persists. Any thoughts?

Back to the services error. After setting some alarms and not getting my SMS's, still getting this: /usr/lib/lua/luci/dispatcher.lua:448: Failed to execute firstchild dispatcher target for entry '/admin/services'. The called action terminated with an exception...

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times....

DOH! So, should your LED ever look funky and say stuff that it shouldn't, you *might* want to check your configuration and make sure that the Name corresponding to that sensor doesn't look funky and say stuff unexpectedly. I re-imaged the card, everything was great! I restored my...

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times....

After just coming across this error when trying to get to the services tab in the web interface, I think I will give that a shot: /usr/lib/lua/luci/dispatcher.lua:448: Failed to execute firstchild dispatcher target for entry '/admin/services'. The called action terminated with an exception...

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times....

Last weekend I had a great gathering of folks over. Some butts and ribs were in the smoker and temps had been holding (moderately) well all day. About an hour before things were to be pulled out, a friend who had imbibed a few too many microbrews stumbled through the pit area and managed to...

Devils Advocate: Mega2560 or MB/DB combo

I will second Matt. On a big cookout, I can have as many as four different grills going. If the rPi can be serving multiple wireless daughterboard clients, each one can have it's own power source (solar, battery, wall wart) depending on its draw, multiple inputs (wired or wireless), and...

Gotta say that you did some really nice soldering work on your board.

    Post your HeaterMeter graphs

Yesterday's smoke. 6# bone in pork butt. Fourth cook of in my WSM 22.5. It is tightening up and performing better with each use. The fan is inserted into an aluminum bowl which is held tight to one of the chamber bottom vents via a toggle bolt and 5" screw. Lump coal and I tried a new (to me)...

    Heat Spike and Fan Question

I experienced this same issue with my WSM 22.5 on it's first run two weeks ago. I use lump and that stuff reacts to oxygen VERY quickly. One little trick that I did discover is that if I lift the lid and don't turn it over, keeping the hot air trapped in the lid, and put it back on it took a lot...

Yes it does. Currently the temps are oscillating about 4-6 degrees, but at least it is working.

    Help! No fan.

Thanks Ralph! I had set them all to 0 per the wiki for manual tuning. I am guessing that a P = 0 was the operator error. I haven't yet found a "reset to defaults" for the PID settings. At least I have them written down now.

    Help! No fan.

Sorry to be a bother, but I updated to version 8 before kicking off this morning, and aside from some unusual probe reactions, nothing terribly out of the ordinary EXCEPT that the fan never runs. Even when bringing up to temp, the fan speed indicator never showed that it was running. I switched...

    Default PID Settings

I apologize if this is listed somewhere, I have checked the wiki and done a couple of forum searches. What are the default PID settings? When I was playing with them on my first trial run, I was a couple of beers in and didn't write them down before I started fiddling. thanks!

    First rPi+HM4 smoke experience questions/comments

Burt, a couple of questions, for science, regarding your first run: How did you layout / start your coals? You mentioned a specific brand, did you light them all or were you doing a Minionesque burn? Where did you have your dampers set? How did you connect your blower to the WSM? Did you put...
