My grates shouldn't need "seasoning", because they have a Porcelain Enamel coating on them. That's the point of the coating.
I also looked at a friends Weber Q with the same type of grates and it also has rust on the exact same areas of the grill.
I purchased my new Weber Q 1200 a few months ago and I noticed the grates started getting a light brown coloring on them….rust. My grill is always covered outside and it hasn't rained here in a very long time. I use a soft wired brush to clean the grates, as approved by Weber and I never use a...
As ChangL told you, the 2014 model year grills won't fit on the older #6549 cart.
This is one thing that upsets me this year about Weber, that they made the Q series not backwards compatible. And it's for no other reason than to make the consumer spend more money.
I purchased a Red Weber Q 1200 with cart from ACE last week during their no tax sale day, great deal. I then added the Weber LED light, cover and griddle insert. I really like this setup, it replaced a similar size O-Grill.
Finally I got someone at Weber that confirmed a metal spatula can be used with the griddle. Here is what their parts department said concerning the griddle instruction manual saying not to use a metal spatula:
“This statement is misleading and will be changed in our instructions. The concern...
I contacted Weber customer support again today because I wanted to see if they can suggest what kind of spatula can be used with this griddle. He was going to have a supervisor review the issue and get back with me. This is the response from that supervisor:
Dear Customer,
Thanks for...
LMichaels,
I really can't tell the difference in my food between different grills, maybe I'm too hungry when I grill and chow it down to fast to taste it. But I'm going to have to look into a Broilmaster Premium grill, they seem very interesting.
I have to say, one thing that turns me off is...
I already understood how the Q prevents flare ups, but it certainly doesn't cover flames like the flavorizer bars do. And then there is the issue of pools of grease building up on those sear areas in the grill grate of the Q. I know other manufactures use similar types of grill grates, my...
"One major advantage to grilling with the lid closed is controlling flare ups. Weber grills are designed and engineered to eliminate flare ups. This is done by our legendary flavorizer bar system. The flavorizer bars system is the heart of Weber® Gas Grills. A single row of Flavorizer® Bars...
Well, because metal can end up scratching off the porcelain-enamel. Porcelain-enamel is not bullet proof, it can be chipped and cracked.
UPDATE: I called Weber Customer Support and was told to do what the instructions suggest. They didn't know why they show a picture with this product and a...
I noticed this LED light is using the warmer LED's, is this a recent change? I had one of these lights on a Weber Genesis I owned years ago and seem to remember the lights being that cool white color. Either way, I'm glad LED technology is changing to the warmer color.
I've seen a lot of pictures online, where a metal spatula is used with the Weber Q griddle #6558. Interestingly the instructions say not to use a metal utensil, as it could damage the griddle surface coating. Yet there is even a picture on the Weber store page showing a metal spatula being...
