    Utah > Tropic: i.d.k. Barbecue

We didn't go to Zion, but many other hikers said the same as you, about Bryce being very unique and way less people. We also did Grand Canyon, impressive but loads and loads of people.

Craycourt cast iron grates for the Kettle

Slow n Sear friendly. I rarely use the baskets on the opposite sides technique, so flip on both sides isn't useful to me

Craycourt cast iron grates for the Kettle

That's exactly what I do. I have the KillaGrilla grate with the one big single flip side that I use most of the time. Then I have the Weber GBS grate that I use without the center section and use only when I'm cooking with Vortex or using my Wok.

    Improvised Ash Pans

I've seen a lot of guys use a metal / steel bucket and just place it under the bottom vent to catch the ashes. Some like this because they say it improves air flow versus the standard ash ring/bucket. It also holds a lot more ash, so less time dumping ashes.

    What color is my kettle?

Rust is the biggest killer of the kettle. Very cool looking color though.

Get a Weber, get another Weber

Yes, they do start multiplying! My neighbors see me out in the front yard cleaning / fixing grills all the time. Now whenever they get rid of old grills they always call me up asking if I want their old one, haha. I've even had a few call to give me a heads up that other neighbors in the...

    Question about Performer grill

Yes, you can refill a 5 lbs tank from a 20 lbs tank. I've done it a couple times.... very similar to refilling those small 1 lb green bottles off a standard 20 lbs tank.

    Weber Kettle

Yes, the ash ring/cans from all the 22" kettles are the same part #.

Gunk stuck to the bottom of my kettle

If it's "your" gunk, then I'd just keep on cooking as long as the blades move freely. If you bought the grill used and it's someone else's gunk...then I'd do a deep cleaning for sure. Oven Cleaner works well. Clean it as best you can without oven cleaner, then coat it really well with the oven...

Craycourt cast iron grates for the Kettle

I just like the stainless steel grates. They last a long time and are very easy to maintain. KillaGrilla SS especially are my favorites.

    26 inch Kettle

Haven't heard of a red 26" being released. You would have to think though, that with the Glen Blue being so successful that they will likely release limited edition colors like that again. Who knows if it will be 26" kettle though. If I was a betting man, I think they'd release a WSM in one of...

Who will admit to liking steak sauce?

I don't like steak sauce, but there is a steakhouse in Gatlinburg, TN that serves Worcestershire butter on one of their steaks and WOW, that's good stuff. Have not tried making it myself, but probably should.

Thermoworks WAND on sale for $29!

Amazing price for an excellent no-touch forehead thermometer. https://www.thermoworks.com/wand I think I paid close to $40 for mine and it's totally worth that. Highly recommend this. 👌

    Adventures in Restoring a 2004 Stainless Steel Performer . . .

Lookup "Chuck's Inserts" on Facebook. He can get you some new whitewalls in whatever size you need. Nice job on the restore. You did overpay, IMO, but it looks really good. That first gen is my favorite and the one I use at home, but I lifted mine so I wouldn't have to hunch over as much...

    I need a kettle, would you suggest 22” Master-Touch or 26”?

Plenty of cheap used 22" kettles on Marketplace. Pick one up, try it out. See if it meets your needs. If it does, you can always resell it for what you paid, or even make a little extra if you clean it really well. Then buy a new mastertouch or 26", if you want new. I have both a 22 and...

    Black SSP - Missing hose

The brass fitting that connects the hose to the burner tube is very similar across all Performer grills. It's not unique to the SSP. If you happen to find a deal on a newer gen Performer, you could salvage the hose from it.
