    Another Summit...

Jon, the frame and sides are high quality SS. I find the smoker box rather useless, so I take them out and make up more usable grill space. But each to their own.

    Another Summit...

in the first Generation of Summits (The model LMichaels has) the crossover tubes were located to the rear of the burners, with no flavorizer covering them. Because they have no protection from what falls from the grill plate above they seem to block and rot out often in machines that have a hard...

    Another Summit...

I would grab it, even if just for parts. The cart frame and sides are SS for a start, you have the SS covers on the side tables, the SS grates, it's a D6 so it has the Roti and side burner. The 'weldment' flavorizors are not cheap, but you would have a 'top of the line' cooking machine upon...

Thirty Four Wonderful Years with my Lovely Wife

Happy Anniversary! Cook looks great (still cannot get my head around brussel sprouts, no matter how much maple syrup you drown them with). 34 years for us next month.

    Name of propane adapter

From memory the flame check device is between the gas in line and the manifold. (currently a long way away from my grills, unable to check)

Soon-to-be new (ok used) SUmmit S670 NG owner...questions

If you can get the Roti burner sparking and lighting, you have to keep it sparking for a little bit so it heats up and the safety valve does not cut the gas off. Side burner should just work if sparking etc.

It operates the lights in the knobs. Glad you got it home OK.

Soon-to-be new (ok used) SUmmit S670 NG owner...questions

Actually, they transport quite easily. My current restore I used a 6x4 box trailer, and managed on my own. They wheel and fit fine through a standard doorway. To transport, take out the grill grates, vaporiser bars, fat catcher (actually the first thing to remove- I once moved one that was...

    Weber Genesis 2000 identification

Hi Chris, we have different (slightly) SNs for many grills here in Australia. I have always assumed it is due to having slightly different regulations, and subsequent different certification labels. And/or it makes it easy for Weber Australia to reject warranty claims from people who directly...

    Genesis 5000

Hi Chris, I have two 5000s (one restored and my main cooking machine, one for spares) SN EK5, both with Green hoods (White/grey pinstripes) and matching serving trays.

    Genesis 5000

No insult was intended. It was actually a recognition/compliment that you are the person who 'maintains the rage' in regards to Weber sometimes failing to keep parts available, such as the cookbox for your Summit inside the warranty period. When you think about it the Flame Check is a safety...

    Genesis 5000

Hi LM, it is a thermocouple attached to burner one. You depress it when you light the grill. When burner one is lit the gas stays running. Sooner or later they fail, and you have to remove/bypass it or the only way you can get burner one to stay lit is to stand there holding it down, or sit half...

A different kind of Gas Regulator problem.

About 12 months ago I gave a restored Summit Silver A LPG four burner to some relations who live some five hours drive away from us. I dismantled it for transport and reassembled it when we arrived. Attached a gas bottle, got the the spray bottle of detergent/water to test for gas leaks, and...

Thanksgiving in July with the Kettle Gasser

Don't think Tony in the U.K can help here. While we still, at odd times, refer to the 'U.K.' as "the mother country", and we still have the Union Jack as the upper LHS of our flag, and QEII is still 'Queen of Australia', we are about as much a part of the UK, as Canada is. Although much further...

Weber Summit grill for $100--convert to LP possible/worth it?

I am in agreement with LMichaels here, the NG to LP conversion, just changing the orifices, is not the best idea. Easer and better to find an LP grill. Burners and crossover tubes are still available (Weber 60428, 63664). But not the firebox parts. I am in the process of restoring one at the...
