    Summit Gold on the curb!!

Hi Gord, what you are looking at is an SS trim/guide plate. Look from inside the firebox and you will see the black porcelain enamel coated steel that is what can rot out. Take it apart, easy to work on.

    Summit Gold on the curb!!

Hi Gord, you have a Summit Gold B6, which should be a 6 burner with a side burner, but not a roti or smoker box burner. The only cabinet parts that will fit are others from the same series, Summit Silver, Gold and Platinum (Platinum has SS panels). Side panels will fit from the 4 burners, but...

Need some feedback please...summit gold D6

Hi Chris, The crossover tubes between burners 1/2 and 3/4 are obviously missing/rotted. If you get a new set of igniters, get a set of 3 new tubes as well. In Australia all the Summit Platinum Golds came with the SS rod grates. I suspect someone has changed them out as it looks like you have...

Need some feedback please...summit gold D6

Hi Chris, 1. I would strip the cook box out to make access easy, take out the grates, flavorizors, and the burner tubes (you remove the manifold first) Then it is much easier to clean. Use oven cleaner if you wish. First though, after I had physically scraped as much of the crud/fat out of the...

    First post, my unexpected scores!!!

Hi Shaun, the Summit Platinum 6 is the pinnacle of that series, especially for the SS frame and sides. Absolutely a keeper.

    Rare Genesis 5000 in California

Same SS components as others in the 1000-5500 series, flavorizers and stamped SS grill. The difference was that this is the 'top of the range ' grill, the glass doors, the enclosed side/rear and not sure if the 3000 had the striped hood.

    Vieluxe 56" Grill Parts

Hi Bill. it would help if you could specify exactly what you need. It has been suggested in the past that some of the parts from the first series Summit gassers might fit the Vieluxe. I am currently restoring one of these and happy to take measurements. The flavorizer bars are a 'weldment' type...

Restoring and Converting a 44" Vieluxe to NG

Hi Greg, I am sure Larry will answer this question better than I can, but basically the Weber side burners,( and Roti burners on the later models), Genesis 1000-5500 series, Series One Summits (contemporary with your Vielux), Series Two Summits (Silver, Gold, Platinum) and the current series...

Expensive gasser on OC craigslist...Weber Summit Platinum.

Summit Platinum 4 'A'. Base model, no side burner, smoker box or Roti. $600 is a bit much IMO.

    No Summit Charcoal?

Just picked up my first used Genesis

I agree with the use of Bar Keepers Friend on the SS hoods, but rub with the grain. With the SS grates by far the easiest way to clean the crud off is to do a long high heat burn- (I usually cook pizzas), all burners on full. The crud turns to white ash, which you brush off.

    Weber Genesis Platinum 2005 Restore

Nice machine to restore. You have to love the SS frame. Open cart looks OK as well.

    Another Summit...

I have been away from my grills, and just got home today, so I had delayed commenting on which grates fit what etc., rather than trust my memory. I can confirm DaveW's list from ABT.com. First Generation Summit, Second Generation Summit and the Genesis 1000-5500 series take the same 17.25 inch...

    Another Summit...

Hi Jon, the 600FT & the 400FT are pretty common here, and fairly easy to pickup for not much money (I think I paid about $75 for my 600FT). The problem is just what do you cook on them? Bacon & eggs? Once you get used to cooking on a BBQ with a lid, it is not easy to go back to cooking without...

    Another Summit...

The Summit Platinum frames are welded 304 SS. Product Description Summit Platinum gas grills feature 4 and 6 stainless steel burners, stainless steel frame, infinitely adjustable burner valve, heavy-duty stainless steel Flavorizer bars, 3/8-inch diameter robot welded stainless steel rod cooking...

    Another Summit...

They are an SS frame. Really. Not as rock solid as the first Generation Summits, but OK. Which reminds me of another small problem with them. The fittings that are used to bolt them together sometimes are not all SS and rot out. Not very logical when you think about it. Another problem is...
