    Another redhead genesis restoration!

I would spend half that and get CI grates. The will last as long as you take care of them. We cook in CI skillets everyday in the house that are over 50 years old. I'm a fan of CI, though they do require maintenance. However, to my knowledge, they don't require $130.

7526 I believe for CI. 7525 for the porcelain coated steel (don't get).

Silver B refurb for my brother

Ok, I have come up with crazy ideas for my brother's grill. It should turn out to be one of a kind (my apologies to the purists). Question- is there such a thing as a high temp clear coat? Hopefully in aerosol form? I have some research to do...

    Side Table Replacement Options???

Western red cedar is the way to go for the combination of durability & cost. I also agree with keeping poly on it; very appealing.

Silver B refurb for my brother

Well, here I go again. Rich Dahl warned me of this. After a successful refurb of my redhead, my brother has talked me into refurbishing an old Weber gasser for him. So, I found this Silver B for $10 on CL. I have a few ideas for it. Just have to see how it goes. This one has the duraplastic, so...

    Genesis 1100 restoration

I did it the hard way. I used degreasers(strong alkaline based cleaners) and scraped manually. Then I followed up with a pressure washer. The outside was sanded down rather easily. Next time, I am going to try sandblasting the tub inside and out. I also was told to try products like Carbon Off...

    Genesis 1100 restoration

Ok gang, I finished the grill. Now, I know I may have turned away some purists out there by not keeping the grey slats original to the grill. They were in decent shape, but I wanted a personal flare to this one. And yes, I am a bit of a country boy. So I beg forgiveness. The process...

    Genesis 1100 restoration

Hey Rich, this one is a deep tub with 13 fb's as well. I have it ready to reassemble now with new parts on the way. I was able to find new 16 gauge fb's for much less than Weber's 18 or 20 gauge product. Though I am going to attempt to clean and restore the old and rusty CI grates, I opted for...

    Genesis 1100 restoration

    Genesis 1100 restoration

I am new at this, so please bear with me as I stumble along this journey. I have admired the restored grills I've seen in these forums. So I thought this would be a good place to share. I am restoring a '98 1100 redhead I got on CL for $20. I figure to make this new again (for my personal use) I...
