    Tri-tip question

Too bad I found this thread after shopping. I just stocked up on tri-tip at $3.99 per pound... BTW, there is a mustard/rosemary recipe in the Weber cook book that is great with tri-tip.

    Endless Summer

Dave, the food looks amazing! I looked at the other pictures in your photo album. Is that a Ranch Kettle you are cooking the chickens on? If so, what do you think of the Ranch Kettle?

    Ready to purchase stoker.....

As Larry suggested, I would order an extra food probe AND an extra temperature probe. Why the extra temperature probe? I ordered an extra one as a backup. This was over a month ago and still haven't received it. He also charges something like $12 shipping for just the probe, so spending the...

    Ready to purchase stoker.....

It looks like he shows the tube with 2 locking collars and ships a flared tube on one side to eliminate one of the locking collars. Seems like something you could easily make yourself, but I understand your disappointment.

    Ready to purchase stoker.....

Larry, can your reverse the installation? That might make it a little bit nicer on the outside of the WSM.

    New stoker owner...

Not sure if you are new to WSM and the Stoker. If so I would recommend doing your first cook using the Stoker interface on the device itself. You will have enough going on figuring out how to get the probes installed, fire going, naming blower/probes and setting it up. Getting the Stoker on...

What's your favorite BBQ resturant in Kansas City?

Can't go too wrong with Jack Stack (www.jackstackbbq.com). If you go there make sure someone orders the crown prime beef ribs! and get the burnt ends...

    Damaged Stoker Probe?

Does anyone have a Stoker temperature probe (meat or fire probe) with a damaged wire that they would be interested in selling? I'm looking for one to "experiment" with the 1-wire technology. If so, send me an e-mail at the address posted in my profile. Thanks!

    Stoker - High Temperature Sensor

PaulR, the standard probes that come with the Stoker are only good up to 450 as you have indicated. Rock has a high-temperature probe for sale that is good up to 1,000 degrees (but last time I tried to purchase wasn't available). BTW, the Stoker (and the Guru for that matter) is more about...

    NEW TO "REMOTE" STOKER MONITORING

I haven't tried it yet but Microsoft has a beta program called www.mesh.com It allows you to sync computers and access them remotely thru a web interface. Perhaps go to www.mesh.com and request a beta invite from them. You may be able to just access your home computer desktop thru this...

    Stoker Food Temps

I think ken is right (and I agree with him about meat at that high of a temperature). I believe the fire and meat probes are same technology. They only differ in the geometry of the metal sleeve the probe is embedded in

JOHN AT Rock's BAR-B-QUE HAS HEART ATTACK

    Stoker - High Temperature Sensor

Yes, it should be able to. I think a lot of people expose their probes (both Stoker and Guru) to high heat accidentally when they take their food off. If you take your food off and forget to put the lid back on, the temperature goes way up and can potentially damage a probe.

    Stoker HELP!!!!!!

Could it be displaying Celsius? That would be 174.2 F which is more in the ballpark.

    INFO ON STOKER WIRELESS SYSTEM

Ryan, I have hacked my La Fonera but failed to set it up as a bridge. Please email me at my profile email address for instructions. I would love to get that small La Fonera acting like the wireless bridge.

    INFO ON STOKER WIRELESS SYSTEM

Do a search for my name and you can see all the trouble I had with a couple of Linksys game adapters I tried to get working (this is the old 802.11B that you can pickup on Ebay for cheap). I can't speak for their newer version. I've been very happy with my Buffalo Wireless Ethernet Adapter...

    TOTALLY CONFUSED (or just stupid!)

John, assuming you don't have a wired network connection where your smoker is, use the "waiting time" to purchase a wireless ethernet adapter and setting it up to work on your wireless network. For what it is worth I have had good luck with the Buffalo Tech wireless ethernet adapter. In...
