What new grate to get for Genesis -

I agree on the Qlimetal grates, especially the 9mm 304 stainless ones. Very high quality for an Asian import. Probably the easiest to clean and maintain. They will last longer than the grill. I have to give honorable mention to REAL cast iron grates that Weber made years and years ago. I am...

    Spirit vs Genesis

I was in an Ace in another town that had this ultimate new model Spirit that I hadn’t seen before. $799 is a little steep, but it seemed extra nice. It had stainless shelves and an electronic thermometer with a grate level temp probe. Like you, I wouldn’t be ashamed to have one of the...

    2nd Chance for a True Weber Classic: A 1998 1st Generation Summit 450

Welcome Bill! The shields I had made were for a 1998 1st generation Summit. If you are ambitious - and maybe lucky - you could disassemble and take your firebox panels to some sheet metal places near you to see if they could make similar shields for yours. To get the price down, you could do...

    Ace is The Place

Love the grates and that cool looking grill as well! Thanks for sharing👍

    Ace is The Place

Brenda, I was at an Ace in another town yesterday and they had this on their floor:

    Ace is The Place

The crosshatch grate in the one picture is a Weber Crafted Kitchen accessory that I already had and use on my 1st gen Summit. It is a bit of a pain to clean, but I enjoy using it occasionally nonetheless. The original grate set is regular cast iron, flatter on one side and thin on the other. I...

    Ace is The Place

Yeah, Larry, there is a lot of overlap between this Genesis II and the first generation Summit. The Summit has a rugged build and special classiness that nothing can beat. This Genesis II is stylish in its own way, though. Both are capable cookers.

    Ace is The Place

Last month I picked up this Genesis II in the “Indigo” color exclusive to Ace Hardware. While it was filthy, it looked like the wheel fell off and it was parked derelict after only limited use and left just to sit as a winter home for field mice: A few parts and some elbow grease later...

Looking to purchase quality flavorizer bars for Summit platinum a4 9896

Can you give the exact model? Posting a picture would be very helpful. There are some good options, but we need to know which grill you have.

That would be an early third generation Summit.

I will just leave this here

Josh, I am so sorry…I will be praying🙏. I hope you will be able to do the best you can with your family. Definitely important things in life that take priority over hobbies. Hang in there.

The closest thing I have seen to those are the ones that came with the TEC grill I restored years ago.

It doesn’t seem that Spider is currently selling this item any longer, so that looks like a decent opprtunity. I would like to mount one on the SS Performer I have and have a Weber Pellet Kettle that they should already be selling!

Bad luck with new stainless steel grates

If you can't readily fix your grate, I am confident that Qlimetal/Amazon will make it right. I have a lot of respect for Qlimetal's products, but sometimes shipping can be really hard on grates. I would recommend going with them again.

Hey Mike, WELCOME! Glad you got useful information. That's one of the great things about TVWBB!

Recycling x000 Flavorizer Bars for Silver A

Cody, I guess I can understand that, since I have been known to paint kettles on the badges red and some other items many don't even notice. My one concern is that if your attempt to drill out the old burner screws goes south, will you be out an otherwise good cookbox?

Maybe not too far off from when Weber sold a kettle essentially mounted on a wheelbarrow frame!

New The Huntsman Kettle Kamado Grill from Spider coming.

I believe that is the case. Next winter, I may try running WITHOUT the Venom and use the best lump charcoal I can find. But, in the end, it doesn't make sense to dump a barrel of charcoal into a Huntsman when I can pull out a Weber kettle, use my Recteq or gas grill and get all the winter...

New The Huntsman Kettle Kamado Grill from Spider coming.

Hoping to try out again soon. Been too swamped with house and personal stuff. My problem in the winter was I could not get it up to temp, even with two starters worth of Kingsford Professional. I am hoping nice weather now will be more suitable for high heat grilling. I have not any issues doing...

The daisy wheels are more work and harder to clean up, but they do give you better control for low and slow bbq.
