My first gas grill -- Redhead Genesis 1100

That looks great Kelly! I like the use of picketts for the bottom shelf. You should get good milage from that cedar treated as you did.

Before, During and After: Weber Genesis Silver B

Mike..just leave those manifold bolts alone. as long as the wingnuts spin on and off thats all you need to hold the manifold in place. i used some never sieze on the nuts when re-installing to insure they stay workable

    Thoughts on this redhead?

BTW the frame fix can be done with out welding. A piece of angle steel and some stainless fasteners will replace that piece nicely. just cut the old piece out, and cut the angle iron so thats it's notched on the ends and the top 'flat' sits on the frame. Pop a few holes and use some stainless...

whatever you put into to it you will get in return. That is a great grill. Couple of bucks and some elbow grease and you'll have a solid cooker for years to come!

    Cook'n on a Genny 1000

Eric, i wish i could give you a detailed recipe for the Bulgoogi, but my wife is Korean and my mother in law lives with us (she's wonderful btw) and when i ask her about the marinade she says she doesnt have a measurable recipe, and it changes from time to time depending on what she has on hand...

    Cook'n on a Genny 1000

Gett'n some more practice in. a load of Korean BBq beef 'Bulgoogi' and a spatchcocked chicken and mixed veggies [/IMG] [/IMG] the chicken was done on a Genisis that a friend saw on the curb for the trash pickup across the street. he asked if I thought it was a good grill :-). i...

Is my Genesis 1000 resigned to the dustheap of history?

I dont see why you shouldnt be able to save it. After all, the burners do COME with new screws (mine did anyway), but it seems most just leave the old ones wisely in place. they are merly a saddle point for the notches in ends of the burners. if the drilling did not enlage the holes to much the...

    Cook'n on a Genny 1000

I have to say that while I love the robust and spartan design of the Genesis 1000 over most of the grills available today...I did have resevations about the East/West burner configuration. the grills ive had in the past with multiple burners have been North/South until now. with that said....and...

    Weber Genesis 1000 Restoration Advice

Just saw your picture of the frame bolt. My last one looked the same. Tried to remove it without any PB or heat first, and it snapped off at the box immediately with very little force. I was then able to get some vice grips on what was left inside the box, apply PB blaster several times and let...

    Could Not Resist

Hey T....stupid question but have to ask...will your grill be in direct sunlite quite a bit? the reason i ask is that poly is a great finish but its not real UV friendly. i had some trouble with it flaking after some exposure. ive used spar varnish on my outdoor stuff ever since. the clear coat...

    Weber Genesis 1000 Restoration Advice

Use a torch to heat the aluminum around the bolt. It wil expand Quicker than the steel in the bolt freeing it up. Don't skimp on the PB Blaster, give it a few shots and plenty of time to work. After heating with the torch use plenty of wiggling to get it free'd up. This hopefully will keep it...

I think either one of those colors looks awesome with the Redhead. Im hoping you have better luck with the red oak than I did. i used it on a work table on my barrell smoker 'twice' (foool me once shame on u....well you get the drift) and i couldnt keep it from 'checking' and warping. I asked at...

    Newcomer starting a 1000 rehab

Actually T, the handel was the only salvageable piece of wood on the grill. just sanded it down. i have not varnished it yet as i was trying out the grill while i was finishing the work tabels. i used spar varnish on the cedar. 4 coats.
