    New Build Questions

Thanks Bryan! I think I'll go ahead and order the proper pinned LCD. Mouser was great and refunded my LCD already. Would a brass sponge help clean up my tip or should I look to replace the tip as a short term solution. Long term, since I do enjoy building, do you still recommend the AOYUE 936?

    New Build Questions

Hi everyone, I have 2 questions as I get to the LCD portion of my build. Keep in mind that this is my first solder job and I'm not well versed in the wiring diagrams. 1) I was trying to get fancy and ordered this LCD for its variety of colors (wanted the option before seeing my case color)...

    Testing the Thermocouple Amp

Yes - I soldered, then watched the 2 hour premier of SVU, then tested. I'll try again tonight. Room temp should have been 23C. Otherwise, could it be an issue with any of the solder joints? I am 99% sure I used the right components in the right spots.

    Testing the Thermocouple Amp

Last night, I finished soldering the necessary components to test my thermocouple amp. My 9 volt battery was registering around 9.2V. After hooking it up to the board, I was getting a reading of 8.9-9.0v through the amp connections. The other test with shorting the inputs gave me .17V when I...

    HeaterMeter Hardware v4.2.4

Ughh, yeah, you're right. Good thoughts. Again, just getting ahead of myself.

    HeaterMeter Hardware v4.2.4

Ralph - Thanks for making that light bulb go off above my head. I have plenty of maverick probes to accomplish what I want. I often find myself digging much deeper than necessary :) If I move and wanted to wire my new house up to have my HM inside, I would probably give this a shot...

    HeaterMeter Hardware v4.2.4

So, as far as utilizing probe ports, this would be interchangeable with a food probe, right? I am not there yet in my build, but I will be putting together a RDTC that would run into my house via ethernet to connect to my HM. On the RDTC, I was planning to sacrifice the ambient temp sensor in...

Adding Thermocouple Plug to HeaterMeter v4.2.4 PCB

Sweet, thanks! Since I was going to build the RDTC box, I already have everything except one of the ceramic capacitors, so at least I can get started while I wait for the rest of my materials to arrive. Certainly beats having to waist my HM board!

Adding Thermocouple Plug to HeaterMeter v4.2.4 PCB

Yes, I'm simply trying to add TC support to my non TC HM board. I ordered the HM PCB and haven't touched it yet. These would be all of the components I need, right? Is there a wiring diagram that shows me what to do? https://www.mouser.com/ProjectManager/ProjectDetail.aspx?AccessID=dc304d0fab

Adding Thermocouple Plug to HeaterMeter v4.2.4 PCB

Dave - I do have the RDTC and parts associated with that build. As discussed on our PM, the diagram you sent was for wiring the RDTC to the HM. Thanks for the quick reply! To be clear on my original ask, I need to know how to turn my standard HM board into a TC HM board. I want to utilize the...

Adding Thermocouple Plug to HeaterMeter v4.2.4 PCB

I recently got all of my parts to build myself a Heatermeter with the RDTC box. I had a case made with a switch on it for the RDTC, but as I started in on my build, I realized I only ordered the standard HM PCB. My question is, what materials do I need to add the TC plug to the HM and is there...

Questions on New HeaterMeter Build for Vision Pro S

So with a thermocouple PCB, is that adding just one thermocouple jack in addition to the 4 jacks on the standard board, or are all jacks then the thermocouple variety?

Questions on New HeaterMeter Build for Vision Pro S

Thanks Steve! I'll have to reconsider my probe options. So for the case & damper, I found this: http://tvwbb.com/showthread.php?59833-Community-3D-Printer-Assembly-Trading-Resources. Would I just email Ralph or Tom depending on what I was looking for?

Questions on New HeaterMeter Build for Vision Pro S

Hey everyone, After doing my first successful 18 hour brisket last weekend, I have been researching temp controllers like crazy! I’ve been reading a lot here and on the wikis. I have decided that a Heatermeter is what I want to control my Vision pro S so I’m not losing any more sleep, but...
